Still no solution for Vista?

I am dying to start using TiddlyWiki for my own notes and docs.
But still it doesn't work in Vista and IE7, as far as I can tell.
I can't get rid of the opening message, where I have to accept running
Javascripts. That's ok, but ...
I try to save, but there are error messages all over: warning about
interacting with Active-X; warning about a script running slowly,
blocking IE; after (trying to) save, I have to accept exiting by
pressing OK, etc. --- and after all, no changes seem to be saved
anyway.

I looked in the forums for solutions, but with no success.

Is there any hope for using this excellent software in Vista - or
should I give it up?

I use it on Vista all the time, but mostly in Firefox. I have been
successful in IE though depending on plugins you use. Maybe your
security settings are too high. I have a router, so I never use a
firewall. Maybe turning that off will help. If not, I'm sure the
professionals here will be able to help you out

TiddlyWiki uses ActiveX to perform file I/O processing. This is NOT
an error! You have to allow this in order for your file to be
saved!!!

With regard to the 'slow script' warnings: sometimes this means that
the brower is stuck in some kind of infinite loop. However... IE
performance with TiddlyWiki is generally slower (sometimes MUCH
slower) than with other browers (e.g., FireFox, Safari, Opera, etc.
Because TW does a lot of work when saving a file, this can result in
the 'slow script' warnings you are seeing. You should allow the
script to continue so that the file I/O processing can be completed.
Note: you may receive this warning more than once. Just keep allowing
it to continue until done (unless it really doesn't seem to be making
any progress... I'd give it at least several tries before telling it
to stop)

Did you deny the use of ActiveX? That would prevent the file from
being saved, and result in the 'exit warning' you are seeing. If you
can successfully save the file, this exit message will stop appearing.

These problems are NOT directly related to Vista... they are just part
of the annoyingly draconian ActiveX security garbage that
InternetExploder has foisted upon us.

If you CAN switch to FireFox, I recommend it. It runs faster, and
works nicer than IE.

I have done some more 'structured' testing, and found out that my
problem is not with Vista, it is with USB. I get the same problem with
two different USB sticks, one U3 and one 'normal'. The same result
running XP SP2 and Vista. Only common factor is Internet Explorer.
It runs very well when I use my hard disk for storing and saving, only
annoyance is then having to accept ActiveX and pressing OK every time
I start editing my TW.
But every time I try to save on my USB I get errors. And one question
'... do you want to stop running the script ...' (in my Swedish
language) pops up every 15 to 20 seconds, forever. It takes some 40%
of CPU, and the file never gets saved. I guess this is some kind of
bug in the Active-X connection between TW and USB, or maybe an
'unfortunate' setting in IE?

My conclusion then was to install Firefox Portable on my USB stick,
and after that TW on my USB stick works fine.
I still have IE on my computers, but I can live with running the extra
FF browser now and then for editing my TWs.
