I know this is not what you're aiming for:
Option A: different browser
There's a special version of Opera for the XO's Sugar interface:
http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Opera
This will probably require Java for saving via TiddlySaver:
http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Java
Option B: different window manager
I was quite disappointed by the limitations of the Sugar interface, so I
opted for a regular (lightweight) window manager, enabling me to use
Firefox:

Option C: different Linux distribution
You could also replace the XO's default Fedora distro with a different
one, e.g. Ubuntu:

Mine as well.
Unfortunately, the 30(!)-day warranty period is over, and shipping it
back to the US from Europe would be a pain anyway.
That's why I went for this workaround:
http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Sticky_Keys
So I now have a dud on my XO's keyboard - but as long as no other keys
are affected, I can live with that (though grudgingly).
