I was totally astonished today to find an OLPC on the porch this
morning, courtesy of my husband. I had no idea that he had ordered
one. I loaded my memory stick into one of the ports and I was able to
work with my wikis as usual. Considering the pain I had trying to
edit one with IE7, I am so impressed.

Ditto.
I'm still waiting for mine - it should arrive any day now (except for
tomorrow... ).

So what's the verdict? Is the OLPC a viable machine if most of one's
work is in TW or web apps?

I obviously can't tell yet, but I doubt that it could replace a proper
laptop (or desktop PC). It's more of a fun gadget to me, serving as an
ultra-portable notebook which I can use when carrying a regular laptop
might be too cumbersome.

It seems to me like it would be a great "distraction free" writing machine for that reason.
