I've been away for a bit, voyaging through the other concepts at work
in this exciting web 2.0

One of the more interesting things is at play with stikkits.com and
Iwantsandy.com - the ability for the code to "see" tags in the text.
So, for example: "remind me to" becomes a Todo item, "next tuesday",
or "on 25 Dec" interacts with the Date/calendar functions. "@Tag" tags
the item.

This is how Stikkits works, but the company that made it seems to have
dropped the idea. Stikkits were little web2 postit notes - the
individual items very similar to tiddlers but frustrating for a tiddly-
veteran used to the expandability of tiddlywiki.

So, my question is: can there be plugin that scans tiddler text for
these key words and automatically sorts the tiddlers accordingly?

have you seen AutoTaggerPlugin at http://www.tiddlytools.com?

AutoTaggerPlugin does probably exactly what you want, if you are only
using tags that already exist. Though if you want a special syntax for
inline tagging (e.g. "##newTag##"), I don't believe there's a plugin for
that yet.

For the record, you might also be interested in the IntelliTaggerPlugin:

Instead of needing a special "inline" tagging syntax, when editing a
tiddler for which a NEW tag is desired, simply *add the tag as
normal*, in the tag edit field. Then, once the tag has been defined,
it is *automatically* used by AutoTaggerPlugin in all subsequent scan-
based tagging actions.

I suppose that it could be helpful for AutoTaggerPlugin to scan for an
alternative set of tag values, independent of the tags that are
currently defined in the document. Something like an
[[AutoTaggerPluginList]] tiddler, which could contain a standard
space-separated list of "tags" to match. In that way, the desired
auto-tagging values can be pre-defined, even before any of those tags
have been assigned to any tiddlers.

The actual code needed to add this to AutoTaggerPlugin is not terribly
difficult, but I'm not sure if there is a compelling use-case for it.

woops, I sent an empty reply

What I meant to say was that I just have a single tiddler with all the
tags I want to use and they're ready to go. The only problem is that
that tiddler show's up in every tag list.

Simply tag the respective tiddler with "excludeLists":

Sure, but this "inline tagging" would be the equivalent to the ease of
creating wiki links.
Now, I probably wouldn't use this myself, I just thought of it while
coming across TwitterNotes' two different ways of tagging:

I'd thought about suggesting this as well, but decided that there's
probably no real benefit in that.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I just found the AutoTaggerPlugin
- great stuff!

What about having a character denote a tag - ie @tag. Ever word
started with @ becomes a tag? Just a thought. I doubt I'd need it
personally - this plugin should be perfect.

Thanks again
