I downloaded the empty.html TiddlyWiki starting point and uploaded it
to my website. When I go to my site in a FireFox browser, the title
displays in the title bar of the browser, but the page that is
displayed is blank.

I did some searching on the main TiddlyWiki page and followed the
steps from W3 to add a .htaccess file to change the character encoding
to UTF-8, but I am still seeing the issue. I verified that the page
is using utf-8 encoding via page info in the Tools menu.

Any clues?

ummm... you first... as long as you've uploaded your document, why not
provide the URL? That way, we actually can have a look, instead of
blindly guessing... :-)

Works fine for me... !?

How did you download the blank TiddlyWiki document - using right-click
and then Save Target As? You mustn't use File > Save As.

Other than that, I'm not sure what might have caused your initial
troubles...

I did right-click and select save target, but I'll try it again just
to be sure and report back.

Are you saying that you can see the page when you go that link? Or
that you don't have the problem when you upload the basic TiddlyWiki
to another site?

Must have something to do with my company's network connection. I
checked it on our DMZ network and I can see the empty page.

Thanks for the help!

same here. loads fine. all content displayed.

I seem to recall someone had a problem like this a while ago (too long
ago to remember)... and I think it had something to do with his anti-
virus protections... something about Norton automagically adding some
screwy javascript code to the start and end of the document!

Eric's right -- that document has been infected with Norton's security
code. There's instructions on cleaning it up here:

http://faq.tiddlyspot.com/#%5B%5BI%20always%20get%20a%20blank%20screen%20instead%20of%20my%20TiddlyWiki%20(even%20when%20I%20look%20at%20my%20offline%20copy)%5D%5D

and here's a short url to the same thing:

Let us know if you have trouble cleaning it up.

Cheers

Thanks to commenters on YouTube, we now know this is not true.

Sweet irony (and good choice of words, Daniel)...
