I have updated the TiddlerEncryptionPlugin to have an 'option' to not
cache passwords. (caching passwords is on by default).

Tiddlers are still decrypted, internally, after you close them, so, if
you re-open the same tiddler, it will display without prompting for
the password.

If you attempt to display another tiddler that uses the same prompt,
you will be asked for the password again.

If you save the TiddlyWiki, the decrypted tiddler(s) are re-encrypted,
so when you go to display it again, it will require you to re-enter
the password again (assuming you have turned off password caching).

If you turn on password caching (old behaviour), you only have to
enter the password once and it is remembered for all tiddlers that are
encrypted with the same prompt for the duration of the TiddlyWiki
session.

Thus, assuming you uncheck the option, you will be prompted for the
password again, if you want to decrypt the tiddler once more.

I forgot to mention that the update can be found in the TiddlyWiki
Subversion Repository (http://trac.tiddlywiki.org/browser/Trunk/
contributors/LyallPearce/TiddlerEncryptionPlugin) and at
http://www.remotely-helpful.com/TiddlyWiki/TiddlerEncryptionPlugin.html#TiddlerEncryptionPlugin

Hello Lyall,
I am not locating the updated TiddlerEncryptionPlugin on
trac.tiddlywiki.org.
All I can find is the one from 6 months ago.

Also, you might want to change the title and subtitle of the TW on
remotely-helpful.com to TiddlerEncryptionPlugin so that folks who save
the link in their favorites or post it to a Digg type site have
something useful for a name to go by.

This is the latest version...

http://trac.tiddlywiki.org/browser/Trunk/contributors/LyallPearce/TiddlerEncryptionPlugin/TiddlerEncryptionPlugin.js

http://svn.tiddlywiki.org/Trunk/contributors/LyallPearce/TiddlerEncryptionPlugin/TiddlerEncryptionPlugin.js

There is something wrong with the Trac links... they lead you into the
past, somehow. It took me a minute to get to the latest version in
trac.

What is the URL you are looking at? Please describe how you get to the
plugin source in Trac, starting at trac.tiddlywiki.org

With regard to the naming of the twiki, good idea, but you could also
simply type in something useful as you bookmark.

I followed the link you provided, and then when that didn't get me to
the plugin I searched for 'TiddlerEncryptionPlugin' and found the 6
month old version but nothing newer. I tried a couple of other things
like looking under your name and still nothing came up but the earlier
version.

I then made the post here saying I couldn't find it, went back to
track.tiddlywiki.org and started playing around as I haven't really
looked at what all was there, and suddenly I found the newer version
of your plugin. And then I could find it in many ways.

Seemed like it just took a while for the new files to get loaded.

Hi Lyall,

I can't put your new version to work. I tried with an empty TW 2.3.0
and the encrypted tiddler is reported as missing.

Can you take a look?

I am at work at the moment, I will be able to look in about 10 hours
from this post.
I notice that it does not work with 2.3 - my apologies for not finding
this in testing (I think my test tiddlywiki was 2.2, damn)

Found the problem.
It appears I seem to have uploaded the wrong version.

In order for you to get it working,
use backstage,
open the TiddlerEncryptionPlugin,
edit it, search for function

GetAndSetPasswordForPromptToDecrypt_TiddlerEncryptionPlugin(promptString)

then *Comment out* the two "DisplayMessage()" calls in that function.

This will get the plugin working, but the 'disable cache' facility
will not work.

I will update the web repositories tonight with the correct version.

My sincerest apologies for this mess up.

Ok, updated both tiddlywiki.org Subversion/Trac and
http://remotely-helpful.com/TiddlyWiki/TiddlerEncryptionPlugin.html#TiddlerEncryptionPlugin
have been updated.

Hi again Lyall,

it seems that the plugin isn't caching the password regardless of the
chkCachePassword status. Does it work for you?
