Here are some ideas for TiddlyWiki.org logos.
http://trac.tiddlywiki.org/tiddlywiki/wiki/TiddlyWikiDotOrgLogos

The idea is to create a logo that represents:
1) TiddlyWiki and
2) Depict a community working together to build TiddlyWiki

Disclaimer: I'm not a graphic designer and would welcome any improvements/competition in this arena.

Feel free to post feedback and comments here at the Google Group and post any other possible logos on the TiddlyWiki.org Wiki.

I've had a look at these and they are all quite good. My favourite is
the "wavy lines" logo.

Same here.
Daniel's logo is pretty spectacular - though it might be a little too abstract (it took me a second to recognize the letters TW in there).

I agree with you. The Simon's "wavy lines" is interesting. What if a plug will be added to the line ?
Could it be the unplugged icon ? I'm not graphic designer myself ... just un idea !

Me three :-)

Although I would like to see a few more ideas, if anyone has any.

I had a few other ideas before the circle-belt-buckle type thing that
I posted.. when I get to my desk tomorrow I'll post some others.

As promised/threatened, I've added some more ideas. Maybe someone can
draw inspiration from these..

Change the colors for better contrast, but the circle with TW is good.
forget the arrows which obscure it. Blue background is fine.

Some nice ideas there. For me, its between logo with curves and wavy
lines, I think - although the 'BMW logo' is starting to grow on me :-)

Wow, there's some amazing creativity there, thank you everyone for the
ideas, keep 'em coming. I like the way that some of the ideas build on
each other, too.

It'd great to see some more ideas that evoke a sense of people working
together. Without wanting the thing to look like a Bennetton advert, I
love the way that tw.org is the result of efforts of individuals from
all over the planet, working together and yet pursuing our own local
interests and passions.

Somewhat related, I'd like to have a people page on tw.org (say, like
the rubyonrails one: http://rubyonrails.org/core/). To kind of unify
the photos I was thinking it would be cool to have a physical
TiddlyWiki mascot that we could mail between us and have it appearing
in each of our photos, whether taken in Texas, North Australia,
Taiwan, or rural Hertfordshire. It would take a bit of time to do, but
be way more fun than some of the usual corporate mugshots. Anyway,
that begs a second question for consideration: what should be
TiddlyWIki's mascot? :)

Cheers

Jeremy

To try and give a sence of community, Elnoi's two tone 'TW' logo could
have encirling hands coming from the 2 outer stokes of the 'W'
And Daniel's second BMW type logo (two-logo-quadrants1.png) could have
people's heads on the upward strokes of the 'W'.
Or the 'W' could be made up of paper-chain people, simular to the
Ubuntu logo?

I know, I'm full of critisism and no original ideas ;)

cheers

As the idea came up again, and despite the fact that Jeremy does not like Logos around letters too much, I played around the letter idea a bit today.

Put this SVG into your TW5 to see the logo:

<?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes"?>
<!-- Angabe der korrekten DTD (hier SVG Version 1.1)-->
<!DOCTYPE svg PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD SVG 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/Graphics/SVG/1.1/DTD/svg11.dtd">
<svg width="500px" height="400px" version="1.1" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" xmlns:x="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">
  <defs>
    <path id="Triangle_small" d="M 0 0 l 0 20  20 0 z" />
    <path id="Triangle_medium" d="M 0 0 l 0 40  -20 -20 z"
      transform="rotate(-45)"
    />
    <path id="Triangle_big" d="M 0 0 l 0 40  40 0 z" />
    <rect id="Square" x1="0" y1="0" width="20" height="20" />
    <path id="Parallelogram" d="M 0 0 l 20 0  -20 -20  -20 0 z"
      transform="
        rotate(135)
      "
    />
  </defs>
  <g
    transform="translate(10 10)"
    stroke="#0000ff"
    fill="none"
    stroke-width="1"
  >
    <use x:href="#Triangle_small" />
    <use x:href="#Triangle_big"
      transform="
        translate(40 40)
        rotate(180)
      "
    />
    <use x:href="#Triangle_medium"
      transform="
        translate(20 20)
      "
    />
    <use x:href="#Triangle_big"
      transform="
        translate(40 40)
        rotate(-45)
      "
    />
    <use x:href="#Square"
      transform="
        translate(40 0)
      "
    />
    <use x:href="#Parallelogram"
      transform="
        translate(96.57 40)
      "
    />
    <use x:href="#Triangle_small"
      transform="
        translate(83.57  54.6)
        rotate(-45)
      "
    />
  </g>
</svg>

I played a bit with my Tangram to create that logo and I have to admit that I don't yet fully understand SVG, but to show the idea, I think, it's sufficient.

Besides depicting the letters TW, using the Tangram shapes reflects a bit the idea of tiddlers. Several tiddlers put together give the full TiddlyWiki content like the 7 Tangram shapes put together giving the logo.

Interesting, but not at all appealing as far as I can see when entered here...

I don't claim to be a Logo-Designer. Maybe someone comes up with a better idea after seeing this.

Personally, I'd prefer a non-techie (meaning, not evidently "contstructed"), organic type of logo, perhaps even without letters at all.

What was a tiddler again? Maybe that's the more interesting image to use... a (bunch of) witty and smart little underdog(s) of a fish of sorts.

I believe mechanisms like "Bubble my Page" are interesting ...
This creates an image (logo if you like) and the same time a  visualization of the content of a (single)page.

Lots of logo activity on a single day, which is fun and unusual.

Stephan - I like the tangram idea. Despite being a riff on the shapes of the letters, it is does successfully communicate something of the idea of composing a something symbolic from smaller elements. Much appreciated.

Best wishes

Jeremy

yes.
A logo can have many pixels, while a favicon is imo 16x16. I'd like to see (a bunch of) fishes in a favicon :)

Mhhh, me gets the idea of a little tiddler (fish) and some bubbly stuff... perhaps the colorful bubbly stuff is coming out of his mouth or brains... smart and witty as the little bugger is.

Tobias.
