I know this has been mentioned before but I wasn't allowed to reply to
the old post.
Anyway, I would again like to put in a request for using Markdown as
formatter in TW. Possibly through a plugin, if we're "stuck" with the
current formatter for compatibility reasons.

The primary reason is that I think Markdown is much clerarer and
intuitive than the current formatter. (Why ' for bold? Why three { for
code when almost everything else is two?) Also, since I'm able to use
Markdown in other places, blogs etc, being able to use the same in TW
would reduce the cognitive overhead for my poor brain.

I understand if it's not gonna happend too soon, but at least I want to
make sure you know there is (still) interest for it.

Regards
Henrik

TiddlyWiki is desiged to accommodate different wiki syntax via
'formatter plugins', and it's entirely feasible to support markdown in
that way. Sadly there isn't a complete working Markdown implementation
in JavaScript, so it would be a case of writing the formatter rather
than adapting an existing one.

There's little chance that we'd change the out-of-the-box wiki syntax
for TiddlyWiki because of the backwards compatibility issue that you
mention.

Cheers

Jeremy
