Geekeerie is a Ruby evangelism startup by Sur and Manik that builds Ruby software (ans OSS some of it) and conduct Workshops & Trainings for other Ruby enthusiasts. It is, as they put it, "For the Geeks. By the Geeks."

The Ruby FunDay is another manifestation of their Ruby evangelism. The first one held in Noida was reported to be quite a success, albeit with limited attendance. Now they've approached us for Ruby FunDay 2, so lets try and make this one Fun-er than the first!

For directions, schedules and more, visit http://barcamp.org/RubyFunDay2.

Hope to see you there.

Hi Ranjan,

Thanks for your note. Could you please explain what made you feel that
my message was spam/unsolicited?

Personally, although I know that this group is used to announce
upcoming events in TW offices, I see value in following up these posts
with follow-up notes that share reports about the event (once it has
happened), reactions of the attendees, and possible feedback to keep
in mind for other events we do. And of course, even sharing the
success of an event and expressing gratitude to those who made it so
(most likely, members of this group), is a positive move, imho.

If others also find such posts to be spam, please do respond, and I'll
refrain from making such posts to this group, going forward.

Thanks,

Aman King

Hi Ranjan,

IMHO Aman's post was NOT spam. At the very least I got some information about the event and read a few blogs of like minded people. Also as the information was all in the context of a Thoughtworks event, its probably not even on a wrong mailing list.

Regards,
Ashish.

From my experience with SpamBayes, it would've classified the message in question as spam due to the hypertext/ plain text ratio.

Not all of us are blessed with a strong built-in bayesian spam filter though. Mine does not cause a false positive, though I think the message is not very dense either.

I ended up dissing both parties, but no flame intended. :-P

Peace,

Trilok

Dear Mr.Aman King,

Greetings!

There is no doubt your mail is spam.

This group is meant for Geek nights at Bangalore.

FYI: It is not for the info about “upcoming events in TW offices” across the world.

And this group is not at all  for the following up with an event in Siberia. Please read the name of the group.

My advice change the policies of the group and inform the members about the new policies.

My two cents!

With Regards & Thanks
