This Mailing list is about the Themalriders activities specifically in regards to Hang-gliding in Gauteng and various Hang-gliding events where Thermalriders members are involved.

There are mechanisms to stop members posts (see below) put we prefer not to use those unless the person spams our lists with unwanted info (like selling of his second hand para-glider(s)) without receiving the mails himself or for that matter defending his actions. For the same reason you cannot just join our list without the intervention of me(Tobie) or Dennis at this stage.

We closed the public access at some stage to prevent 'outsiders' form easily obtaining information than can be used against our members unfairly - specifically targeted at employers whom can take things out of hand eg when you write something like: 'my boss is a p*&p*l for not letting me take leave and join you flying at Bela-Bela' and then get fired.

Basically the list have Members, Moderators and Owners

Members can receive message per every post, daily summary, or only by web access

Members posts can be banned from posting, moderated or freely post

Rights can be set globally or per member as well as for moderators. Owners are 'Gods' in the sense that they can change anything.

The mailing list were always as open as possible but with some limitations to protect our members against spammers and unfair use.

To keep things simple today we only have two owners (me and Dennis) and further only members.

There are members that is banned from posting mostly due to paragliding spamming, if they need it to be lifted and promise to behave it can easily be done by me or Dennis.

Please treat this list as a public list and refrain from making any comments that could cause harm to yourself, the club or any of the members. As stated before in a different post we have about 148 members from various backgrounds all being interested in the happenings in Themalriders at least in some point in time in the past.

Reason for adding this welcome message: so members could understand the structure and risks of this mailing list/group.
