He has dark black eyes with a focused and thoughtful glaze, wearing a
pale and glowing skin tone. His body is slim, but toned for his
muscles, walks in balance with ease.
His facial features are delicate, with fine black hair flows smoothly
along with his body movement. In contrast, his expression often seems
relax and content, but shows alertness and confidence.
Socially very shy, one of Thrar's most noticeable features of his
character is that he speaks very little. Although he is good-natured
and appreciates company of others, he considers as rudeness to question
or even listen to other people's personal background. Therefore he
usually keep himself away from other people's personal life, expect
for those he consider as friends.
He speaks Elvish and common. Although he is a full Elf, he was brought
up by a pair of human parents who have elven blood involved in their
heritage.
Background
The elven male, Thrar Feivrine, was adapted by a pair of loving parents
who are part human and part elven. Though the couple themselves have
elven ancestors, but their bloodlines are mainly dominated by the human
race. Having grown up in a farm, Thrar enjoyed the life of daily chores
living among simple village folks. Within such as small human farming
community, Thrar was never questioned about his elven background.
Little that he knows his true blood father was a well-known Elf in the
Dalelands, for his glory in the aggressive merchant business.
Varandil, Thrar's blood father was also known as the "The Laughing
Tiger". He was the right hand man for the dominating merchant company
know as "The First Merchant House". The First Merchant House
involved with all type of business, from import and export, to casinos
within the region, it excels in all different types of business with
success. Naturally, business in such scale also involve with consistent
gang wars.
Varandil was one of the most influential members of his Merchant Clan,
known for his charm, wit and his skill in combat; he later took over
the clan and has become a well-liked leader for his people.
Nevertheless he was under constant attack form assassins and ambushes.
With his wit and power, none of these skirmishes had really drawn his
attention, except a particular pair of assassins who took on the bounty
on him from his competitors.
The pair of assassins are lovers; they are Tisiano, and his wife Anna,
named themselves as "The Flaming Phoenixes".
Varandil was not half-witted; he has been able to defend himself from
assassinations throughout the years. Even Tisiano and Anna has been
hunting him for over thirty years, Varandil left them with almost no
weakness.
Until one day, Varandil had his first newborn child.
Soon as the news on the newborn child has spread, the pair of assassins
targeted it to draw Varandil out. They attacked Varandil's living
quarter in a large scale, killed off his guards and servants through a
huge firetrap that they set up.
At the end, Tisiano set off the explosion, which was planted on the
baby's building, Varandil dived to his wife and his newborn child and
died trying to protect them.
Varandil's body was smashed into bits by the collapsed building, and
his wife has passed on with him in the same condition. Varandil last
action was nevertheless a success, their child, Thrar, was alive after
the explosion.
Usually, The Flaming Phoenixes would have had no problem finishing off
any potential successor of his victim, however, a well respected gypsy
once told Tisiano that, in his professional life of an assassin, he
shall never kill more than a certain number of people, otherwise a
great cursed would place upon himself and anyone he loves. With
Varandil being his final number, Tisiano did not want to challenge the
curse, and since himself and his wife have been dedicated in hunting
Varandil throughout the years, they never had a chance to establish and
fulfilling family. With these conditions, they have decided to adopt
the newborn child as their own.
Thrar grew up without knowing his loving parents were the assassins of
his true-blooded parents; lead him to a simple and enjoyable life.
As the years go pass, Tisiano and Anna's old age began to catch up
with them, Anna claimed that she has an illness and must be treated
with a special herb; such herb is called the "The Flaming Ash". She
said that the herb is a very rare herb and its location is unknown. As
a loving son Thrar was desperate to seek such herb for his mother, and
begun his travel away form his usual farming life.
Varandil
Father of Thrar, Varandil grew up in a poor and simple background. He
used to hang out on the streets of Daggerdale, looking for what could
fill his stomach for the moment. But he was nevertheless a very
optimistic person, witty and inquisitive. At this strange, Varandil was
somebody who might have a scruffy appearance, but shows his respect in
honour and always have time for people.
With his curiosity and his love for conversation, Varandil got himself
into a conversation about the history of Fearun. Overheard by a proud
Historian, Kasumoto, he approached to the conversation and later, made
friends with Varandil.
The turn of Varandil begun here. Kasumoto was not just a simple
historian; he is also the adviser and the treasury of a merchant
company called, "The First Merchant House". A well respected merchant
house in the Dalelands. With this connection, Varandil was employed as
a servant for Lord Tishmuchi, the leader of his merchant clan.
Life as a servant is well disciplined, as Merchant companies are not
just about retailing, they are usually supported by certain power, and
because of its relationships with the general masses, they are also
politically influential. Merchant houses or any type of powerful
business often have their defending units, especially the one such as
the one that Varandil was working for, it has many established routes
of import and export, expectedly the connection with any bandits and
road warden is well established to ensure of the safe deliveries. Not
to mention the competitions on opening any casino business within he
region, it can be a highly aggressive business.
Although Varandil's role was only a servant, but he is working among
some very powerful people, his life is well disciplined and requires
high alertness. Through one incident, during a cold winder day, Lord
Tishmuchi visited a house of another Merchant, as a custom, Tishmuchi
left his sandals out side of the building while his servants waited
outside. Upon return, Tishmuchi found the sandals missing. Immediately
followed, Varandil present the missing sandals to his Lord, which he
has been hiding inside of his chests.
Without questioning the ambitious motive behind the missing sandals,
Tishmuchi slipped his sandals on, to his surprise, the sandals were
nice and warm, in contrast with the winter temperature, and it was a
pleasant feeling. Lord Tishmuchi looked back to his unfamiliar servant
at the time, acknowledged to Varandil sensitive personality.
Varandil has shown his character and have moved his way up within the
clan. He rarely show any superiority among the man of his same clan and
have always been treating everyone as an equal with a warm and
welcoming manner, he often play an entertainer with witty comments and
jokes, bringing a light hearted feelings for everyone. At this stage,
Varandil is a chief servant who serves by his lord's side, but
because of his down to earth personality, he was never afraid to get
his hands dirty, doing many chores and duties by himself, inspiring on
others and truly have captured his people by heart.
Being Tishmuchi personal servant, he follows his lord to any important
meeting. He was once accompanied his Lord to a meeting that was
concerning to a troublesome rival competitor. Usually, a servant would
never make a sound of spoke a word to draw any attention. But Lord
Tishmuchi suddenly asked Varandil for his view to the subject. Due to
his clown like image, everyone in the room chuckled. Varandil paused,
then smiled with a large grin, to everyone's surprise, Varandil's
speech that followed, provided a sharp analyse of the current situation
as well as a well a thought out plan to compete.
To many people, what happened that day was outrageous; a servant should
know his place and not my making he noted. Instead, Varandil showed off
his ability and automatically challenged other councillors. But to
Varandil, that was one of the glorious days of his life, he was later
given a sit at the council, his own fighters and guardsman which soon
became one of the most influential force for Lord Tishmuchi
Varandil stayed much the same as a character to many people of his own
clan, he would place himself at risk in combat with all of his man no
matter what ranking, he maintained the interaction with others with
great respect. His division was very active during the rapid expansion
of the Clan. After many years of successful campaigns of business
strategy planning, battle conquer and defend, Varandil has shown his
creative tactics, swordsmanship and his charming personality. The
affair of a large and successful merchant house is no ordinary
business. Fights between other business competitors are usually daily
chore. Due to is great eye sight in the dark, Varandil chosen many of
his fight during the dark, he usually wear black and dark blue, he is
exceptionally claim in combat and he favoured wielding a pair of
jewelled short swords. The jewels on the sword glows red in the dark,
like a pair of eyes or a predator, which, he was named the "Laughing
Tiger".
(Originally, he was named, "The Laughing Leopard", but due to the
significance of a Tiger, they changed his title soon after)
Varandil success rising in power with Lord Tishmuchi, but due to the
old age of Tishmuchi, the Lord decided to Simi retire and allow his son
to prepare to become the successor, he asked for the support for his
sons from his five greatest men to guide his son to be a great
successor.
Soon as the power shifted, one of Tishmuchi's men rebelled his lord,
assassinated the Lord and his successor, and attempted to over thorn
the power. Many loyal members of the Clan fought the betrayer, but deep
down, they all fought for their own greed. There was one particular
chapter of the internal affair, which was rather heart breaking for
Varandil is related to Kasumoto. Kasumoto was worried about Varandil
over taking the Clan; therefore he framed Varandil with a chain of
fabricated stories, spreading throughout the clan. But at the end,
Varandil showed his loyalty, reflecting Kasumoto's seedy intention.
Kasumoto could not bear the shame and committed suicide. Varandil found
Kasumoto's body and was in tears, thinking back the good friendship
they once had, he then give Kasumoto a large and respectable funeral.
Varandil later officially took over the clan and become the Lord of The
First Merchant house, he established the most stable thirty years of
the clan history, until he met the pair of assassins, The Flaming
Phoenixes.
