Just found out that the TWC internet has increased our speeds in our area.
When I signed up a year ago, I  had 15 mbps ($34.99) and now has been bumped up to 50mbps. ($49.99)

I was told that it happened a few months ago in our area.

We purchased a new modem last year but already that is no longer compatible with the higher speeds. The max I would get with my old (1 yr old modem) is 38mbps.
You will need to switch to DOCSIS 3.0 modems to reach 50mbps. If you get more than 50mbps you will need a newer model SB6141.

My parents who live in Porter Ranch, now gets 100mbps and since they are using the DOCSIS 2.0 modems (same as mine) they are getting maximum of 38mbps.

Please check with TWC if you are a customer.
Wanted to share what I found today after spending an hour with TWC.

(If you are renting a modem, just buy one. Will save you lots of money.)

FYI: I don't need 50mbps so when I asked what is a lower plan they said 15mbps but that price is now $46.99 - just $3 less from 50mbps.

You can chat with them 24/7 or call 888-892-2253. They are available Monday through Saturday 8:00am-10:00pm PT, Sunday 9:00am - 6:00pm PT.

I hope this will help some of you TWC customers :)

Here are the prices me for internet only:
15mbps: $46.99
50mbps: $49.99
100mbps $59.99

I'm sure many of you have a package deal so this won't apply to you but do check your internet speed changes and modem.

it's hard to find the correct price on the TWC website. I just got 50Mbps last week (bought my own modem - 6141) for $35 per month for the first year.

It looks like the upgraded areas have cheaper 50Mbps.

First year prices are lower but after that it will go up a lot!
Verizon Fios isn't here yet and ATT Uverse cost more than TWC :(
No competition means they can price it however they please!

Great info - how fast did the technology change though - ie rent vs buy? May make sense to rent and then just upgrade vs getting stuck with old technology.

How is AT&T for Internet home service?

It sucks at local commercial places. Goes down a lot! Frequently takes 3-5 minutes to refresh a page or go to a new web page.

The modem costs around $90 to $100. The rent is $8 per month so you get the cost of the modem back in one year.
The SB6141 can handle 100Mbps (they claim 300+ but TWC seems to have issues at over 100Mbps).

I wasn't able to find ATT uverse over 3Mbps to my bldg

For one netflix/hulu etc. anything around 6Mbps is good enough for HD.

The upgraded speeds are nice. I called them last week to get the first year price again. My bill went from $57 to $42/mo modem included.

I attached a recent speed test result. I got 42mbs down and 6 mbs up.

My best,
Kevin
