Immediate Action Items
Near-Term Priorities
- Eric: No need to come in for lunch tomorrow; We'll meet with Jon and fill you in.
- Louis: We'll run the Armitage idea up the flagpole. Thanks again for the contact. Also, we will get clarity on resistance to the "Wise Men" format and work towards a final resolution.
- Corey: We'll move on the patrol idea once the date for the kick-off is locked-in. We realize the urgency.
- Annie: Thanks for your flexibility on Saturday
- Team-wide: We will nail down a mutually-convenient time for a standing meeting once class schedules are locked-in.
- Send Kelly and Dave the top sources on your issue(s) to include in the bibliography to Ambassador Shear.
- Communicate to Kelly and Dave which, if any, sources the library needs to put on reserve or order.
- Jon and Matt back-brief of scouting trip.
- Next G2 meeting. The purpose of this meeting will be to:
- Update the character list and questions to accommodate changes in the itinerary and feedback from the scouting trip
- Begin matching participants with characters.
Longer-Term PrioritiesWe promised to notify participants about their characters and questions by February 8. To accomplish this, we need to complete the following steps by February 6:
- Complete character/question list.
- Match participants with characters.
- List relevant sources for each character in column F of the document entitled "Presentations schedule for adding research resources" in Dropbox. (Note that additional readings can be outlined in one-on-one meetings.)
Weekend of February 23-24:Once the presentations are finalized, we need to begin pulling together the narrative. We will create and use a Google Document to compile this information. We envision the following process:
- Step 1: Research leads will provide an example of an appropriate narrative segment to research staff.
- Step 2: Research staff will draft language for their characters by February 22. Emphasis should be placed on 1) biographical details, 2) geographic/temporal context, and 3) any key information (e.g. important information that would have been provided by a character that we ultimately dropped). Researchers should also include relevant primary sources, maps, etc. to be shared with participants at appropriate times - e.g. leak article.
- Step 3: Research leads will review narrative with an eye towards harmonizing language and creating a cohesive story.
- Step 4: Research staff will review revised narrative and provide comments.
- Step 5: Group meeting to finalize draft. Date TBD.
In parallel with the narrative, we also need to divide up some additional tasks. We will follow-up with each of you individually after our Feb. 6 deadline. There is no need to get going on this until then.
- Eric: Given your mapping skills, we would like you to support Dee, our "Public Affairs Officer," with the fly-away book.
- Louis: The Powell/Armitage event is all you.
- Anne: We would like you to take the lead on the annotated bibliography for the DVs.
- Corey: Patrol idea is all you. Also support to Annie in development of annotated bibliography.
