Motorcycle Autographed by Drivers To Be Auctioned For Charity

The Ryan Newman Foundation, named after the driver of the No. 12 Alltel Dodge, is offering its website visitors a chance to win a custom motorcycle signed by more than 30 NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers. Fans can purchase a lottery ticket online, the proceeds for which will go to Racing for Wildlife.

Racing for Wildlife is dedicated to the preservation of land from increasing development. They annually select a recreation area near urban neighborhoods for preservation so that people may visit protected areas.

The drawing date for the motorcycle will be August 17th.

Braun Racing To Go Sponsorless In Honor of Deceased Mother of Owner

Braun Racing, owners of the Nos. 32 and 38 Toyotas in the Nationwide Series, will run both cars with sponsor-free black paint schemes this weekend in New Hampshire, in honor of owner Todd Braun's recently deceased mother Linda, known by the team as "Mama B". Linda Braun passed away on Wednesday of natural causes.

The Nos. 32 and 38 cars are driven by Denny Hamlin and Jason Leffler, respectively.

"We would like to thank our entire lineup of sponsors for giving us this weekend to pay tribute to 'Mama B.," said team director of marketing T.J. Puchyr. "This weekend is about paying tribute to a wonderful woman and to honor the life she had."

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dove House Children Advocacy Center.

Bill Davis Racing Truck Series Crew Member Suspended

Amanda Mathis, former public relations representative of the No. 22 driven by Scott Speed in the Craftsman Truck Series, has been suspended by NASCAR for an altercation with track security officials on June 14th, NASCAR announced on Tuesday.

Mathis is suspended until July 30th and has been placed on probation until December 31st for violating Sections 12-4-A (actions detrimental to stock car racing); and 12-4-F (any member who participates in fights or altercations in the pits or on the race premises).

In a message dated June 16th, Mathis stated she was no longer an employee at Bill Davis Racing.

Carpentier Sitting Out Pocono Race To Race In Montreal

Patrick Carpentier, driver of the No. 10 Dodge for Gillett-Evernham Motorsports, is going to skip the August 3rd Sprint Cup race at Pocono Raceway in order to race in the August 2 Nationwide race in Montreal. Carpentier will be driving the No. 9 Dodge, which will be sponsored by Subway restaurants.

"I think every driver would like to do well at the track where he has the most fans," said Carpentier. "We had a great run there last year winning the pole and finishing second. That's the race that made me decide NASCAR is where I want to be."

Carpentier began racing the No. 10 Dodge full time this year, making his first start in Vegas and finishing 40th. His highest finish in Sprint Cup racing is a 22nd at Watkins Glen in 2007, when he took over the car for Scott Riggs.

Ambrose On Entry List at Loudon

Following the Sonoma race where he ran in the top ten for most of the day despite a 42nd place finish, Australian Marcos Ambrose will be back in the No. 21 Ford for Wood Brothers Racing this weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

"The ovals are just a huge challenge, you know, something I haven't been able to master yet," said Ambrose on the Wood Brothers website. "There's nothing purer than driving a stock car on an oval. The car doesn't want to turn very well for you, and the speeds are high and the car is sliding around, you've got to be comfortable in your own skin, running that fast, with the banking and everything, and the people around you. It's just exhilarating. It's a lot of fun."

Ambrose is a two-time Australian V-8 Supercars Champion.

Frontstretch Folio: Lenox Industrial Tools 301
By Kim DeHaven

The Sprint Cup Series visits New England this weekend to attack the flat track at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.  The Lenox Industrial Tools 301 is the 17th race of the 2008 Sprint Cup season and will be broadcast live on Sunday, June 29th at 2:00 pm ET on TNT, with radio coverage by MRN affiliates nationwide.  Competitors will make 301 circuits for 318.46  miles around the 1.058 mile oval in their quest for the checkered flag.

Records and Facts
Ryan Newman holds the record for the fastest lap at New Hampshire International Speedway, posting a qualifying lap with a time of 28.561 seconds and a speed of 133.357 mph to win the pole for the 2003 running of the Sylvania 300. Newman holds the record for the most poles at NHIS, taking the top spot four times.  Dave Blaney was the pole sitter in last year's event.

Jeff Burton holds the record for the fastest race run at New Hampshire International.  He attained the record of 2 hours, 42 minutes, 35 seconds with an average speed of 117.134 mph on July 13, 1997 in the Jiffy Lube 300.

Burton holds the record for most victories at New Hampshire International Speedway with four, winning in 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000.  Denny Hamlin won the event last year.

Say What?!?
"It's a fun race track. It has long straightaways and hairpin corners. The toughest part is track position – if you get behind, it is hard to make it up. Because track position is so important, hopefully we'll be able to continue our record of solid qualifying efforts at New Hampshire this weekend." Ryan Newman

I think the track, with as flat as it is and with as little banking as it has, it's tough to really race side-by-side. When we look at coming back a second time, I think the car is going to put on a better race because we are smarter about what it can do there." Jimmie Johnson
