DETAILS: The Fringe Arts Collective celebrates 2 years of creating live artwork at dance parties with their first art show "F-Ing Art" on Friday, August 3rd. The art show will kick off at 8pm and run until 10pm with wine and cheese and the beats of Ben Maybe. But because it couldn't be a Fringe event without world class talent, Sunset & the Fringe employ world-famous Orlano breakbeat wizard DJ Icey and beloved local electronica trio BLVD to rock the party.

Known
as the "King of the Funky Breaks," Orlando
native, DJ Icey, began his spinning career with a residency at the now
defunct club, the Edge. Thought to be
one of the hardest working DJs in America, Icey's nonstop touring ethic gave him plenty
of time to pioneer funky breaks and launch his remix-producer career. He also made history by convincing the then
unknown Chemical Brothers to play their first U.S. show on July 4th, 1993, at the
Edge. Sometimes packed with
breakdancers, B-boys, Ravers, Club Kids, Suburban and even Inner-city kids, the
dance floor is always an eclectic group, brought together by Icey's unique
breaks. With the release of his "Essential Mix – mixed by DJ ICEY," on his own
label, Zone Records, Icey follows in the footsteps of dj greats such as Pete
Tong, Fatboy Slim, and Paul Oakenfold.
BLVD is a three-piece band that fuses live instruments with electronic samples to create a truly unique sound. Combining elements of house, breakbeat, and rock, their high-energy sound is perfect for the dance floor. Drummer Dylan McIntosh surrounds himself with an array of acoustic and electronic drums, merging beats and samples to lay down an unwavering rhythmic foundation. Electric guitarist Curtis Sloane adds tight melodic progressions and looping patterns, as well as triggering programmed samples. Bassist Tripp Bains glues the sound together with a deep low end and fluid pounding attack. As a trio, they rely heavily on their production skills in the studio. By creating samples and synth lines they combine an organic live sound with the repetition and melody of electronic music.

The Fringe Collective has been working for 2 years to "Bring some culture to the counterculture" fighting the elements to produce live music at Burning Man, and fighting convention to bring under-appreciated artists back to the limelight. Resident DJs include funk maven Motion Potion, electro-whiz Victor Vega, house-ophile Mycho Cocoa, mashup-enthusiast Big Dolla and breaks prodigy Tim Dietz. In addition to the DJs, BLVD is just one of the bands that finds its home on the Fringe, not to mention a score of live painters, visual artists and dancers.
Burning Man: "Fringe Latenights in the Bigtop"
This year, the Fringe Arts Collective is joining forces with the Rednose District (a collective of groups like Cirque Bezerk, Gooferman, Enheightened Beings of Leisure, the Nome, Totem, etc) to produce a massive entertainment lineup at the Burning Man Festival. Located at 9:30 @ Esplanade, the Bigtop tent will feature a lineup of mammoth proportions including Cirque Bezerk (2 shows), Circus Metropolus, Bassnectar, Freq Nasty, Fort Knox Five, BLVD with Souleye (2 shows) Gooferman, Dubscience Soundsystem, KJ Sawka, Wolfie, Mancub, Ben Maybe, and all of the Fringe Arts Collective Djs, painters and dancers, plsu aerialists and plenty of fire.
