Last year at the Burning man Festival, the Fringe Arts Collective set out to bring a slice of live music to the playa, making them the unlikeliest of camps and thus, in the Dj-centric setting a "Fringe" element. Among the many bands and Djs that collaborated on this weeklong project were BLVD, BLU SIRKUT, THE RITUAL and MOPO. Among the many ideas thrown around the burn barrell was a way to get everyone in the same place at once to combine BLVD's love of dance music, with Brian's love of the funk, Jordan's taste for psych-rock and MoPo's love of hip hop and breaks. This Friday Sunset proudly welcomes the 5 elements to make some fresh sounds at Mojito. Having just arrived back from two huge sets at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, MoPo is on a roll. BLVD has been touring for the past 4 months and will be in SF for just a few short weeks. Brian joins us somewhere between SoCal shows and a Utah run with Banyan. Jordan Feinstein has been playing keyboards with every psychedelic rock project tocome through San Francisco for the past 5 years. One of the hardest working players in the city, he can always be counted on for nostalgic flourishes of organ and piano. What to expect of the collaboration? One of the city's fattest rhythm sections and hottest keyboardists with one of the country's baddest guitarists, and all of the live scratcheffectapella treats that MoPo can conjure. In other words, expect the unexpected.
