Hello Alabama Filmmakers Co-op members, workshop participants and friends,
We wish you the best for this Memorial Day, remembering the lives, careers and on-going deployments of our friends and family members who have served their country in wars that were not of their making but in which they defended our country and our values. Most of us probably know someone who has recently been, soon will be, or currently is stationed overseas as part of our Armed Forces. My oldest friend has served this past year in Afghanistan and is due to return home at the end of June. We honor their service by remembering on this day their commitment to our country.
Next Sunday, June 6th at 2pm, the Alabama Filmmakers Co-op is pleased, and excited, to present a workshop on Post Production Sound Editing by James Clayton (Clay) Bowman, professional sound engineer.
Sound is, many say, at least 50% of the movie experience. Great sound can make a good movie into a great movie. Bad sound can destroy a great movie. Most of us filmmakers have experienced the difficulty of getting good quality sound in our productions.
We've already seen how to getting better quality sound during the filming of our movie when Chattanooga sound collection engineer Brian Gilbert came to Huntsville to present his workshop "Location Audio for Video and Film" on February 7th. Brian demonstrated equipment and techniques to improve the quality of sound we record on location in the production of our movies. That was a great workshop.
Now were are in Post Production where Sound Editing turns the audio track from the set into the finished audio for the movie. Listen to the audio track of almost any movie and you'll hear the magic - from dialog to background environment sounds, sound effects and music.
Here's a summary bio and workshop description:
