"The State of Arizona" is described on the Internet Movie Data Base as: "The volatile themes of immigration and race sear through this riveting story as it follows the trajectory of the most controversial immigration law the US has seen in generations, Arizona's SB1070." Alabama's recent laws to reduce the flow of illegal and undocumented workers in our state had a huge impact on business as well as society. This screening provides an opportunity to learn and discuss the impact of these laws on immigration and on our community.
Ellin Jimmerson, local documentary filmmaker and activist, will join us in a discussion of these issues. Her film "The Second Cooler" focuses on the impact of immigration laws on business and community.
The film will be shown in the Film Co-op Studio at the Flying Monkey Arts Center at the Historic Lowe Mill. Discussions will follow. All perspectives welcome for a friendly evening of discussion about immigration and our commuity.
Special thanks to the Huntsville City Mayor's Office of Multicultural Affairs for helping to promote this event by posting announcements on their social media and newsletter.
