Hello all, just a last minute reminder -

Our monthly workshop will meet this Sunday in the Flying Monkey Theater with our special guest Alex Hillkurtz.  Listing from the Flying Monkey Calendar included below.

Also next week, beginning Thursday, May 13 through Saturday May 15, is the Tupelo Film Festival.  Within driving distance and a nice festival.  The first two days features a workshop on Film Finance.  If you or your friends are thinking of making a feature length movie and have realized it's going to take both time and money to get made, this workskhop just may be what you need.  Visit the festival website to read more - or I have a bunch of brochures sitting on the table outside my studio, pick one up.  Saturday May 15 I'll be presenting a workshop on movie editing as part of the festival.  You can download the festival program from their website: http://www.tupelo.net/film-festival/

See you Sunday,
Don

Sunday - 9th - The Film Co-op presents a Hollywood Storyboard Animation Workshop, Admission $10 Students, $15 Film Co-op & workshop members, $20 general admission (2pm)
This workshop will teach you the basics of creating advanced and professional storyboard images for film, TV and video. Alex Hillkurtz, a storyboard artist, illustrator and film director has created storyboards for over 30 major Hollywood films. In addition, his illustrations have been used by set designers and production managers, and have even appeared on screen. Alex has worked with some of Hollywood's most in-demand directors and provided storyboards for films ranging from the animated "9" and "Corpse Bride" to comedies such as "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgandy" and SciFi Thrillers such as "Vanilla Sky." Alex will demonstrate his techniques, tools and formats. He will instruct participants how to create sample storyboards. He will also discuss the profession and his career in this field. In addition to storyboard and illustration art, Alex is also a director and served as 2nd unit director on the holiday hit "It's Complicated" with Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin. Admission to this workshop will be $10 for Students, $15 for Film Co-op & workshop members and $20 general admission. (All funds raised are being raised to pay travel expenses, Alex is presenting this workshop as a community service.) Whether you are a professional or student artist, illustrator, filmmaker, producer, writer, director, creative professional or just a fan of the movies and art, this workshop will be highly informative and add another dimension to your creative skills.
