Hello all Alabama Filmmakers Co-op members and friends
 
The annual Black Maria FIlm Festival is coming up this Saturday at 7pm in the Theater at the Flying Monkey Arts Center
We are proud to announce that Festival Director and Founder, John Columbus, will be joining us again this year.  John has made the trip to Huntsville every year for over 20 years to present a summary of the film festivals best films from around the globe.  We look forward to having John join us again this year for another great film festival.
 
For those who stop by the Flying Monkey, we already received the programs for the festival and have distributed copies around the facility.  Feel free to stop by and get one.  They will also be available at the door on Saturday.

Since 1981, the annual Black Maria Film + Video Festival has taken its name from that of the worlds first motion picture studio built by Thomas Edison in 1893. The Festival and its tour operate as an independent non-profit organization and is the primary endeavor of Thomas Edison Media Arts. For over 30 years the Festival has been acclaimed for advocating, supporting and widely exhibiting fresh short works up to an hour in length by emerging as well as by veteran independent film and videomakers. The festival’s annual competition is juried by noted exponents of independent work and results in 40 to 60 works chosen for the festival’s annual tour. The tour visits 65 or more diverse institutions in 20 or more states starting with the premiere each season at New Jersey City University, in Jersey City, NJ. 20 or more states starting with the premiere each season at New Jersey City University, in Jersey City, NJ. This event is being brought to Huntsville, AL thanks to the Film Co-op, and will be presented in the Flying Monkey Theatre on the second floor of Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment.
