In Virgil's epic poem, The Aeneid, the story is told of the founding
of Rome by the descendants of Aeneas, the Trojan general that led
survivors away from the ruined city after the great war with the
Greeks. Yesterday it occured to me that the name, Etruscan, may be
Latin for Out Of Troy. The Etruscans were the Tarquin kings of early
Rome and their name survives today in the region of Italy known as
Tuscany.
