A friend was showing me his Lee Oscar E harmonica. He uses it to
accompany his music with organ like swells on the major scale. He
asked me what the numbers on the ends of the harmonica mean. On one
end it said E I, on the other B II. I had to explain to him that Lee
Oscar seems to be mistaken, that the B should say V, as B is the
Mixolydian mode that is played for blues and is V, not II. The F# is
the minor II mode that you can play on the E Diatonic harmonica. I
think that Lee Oscar is doing a diservice to the musical community by
printing the V mode as a II. The harmonica is a great way to learn
about music, scales and modes, but Lee is printing some misinformation
on their harmonicas. The II minor mode is real easy to play on the
harmonica, many a great tune can be found there in minor as well as
modal.

Maybe Lee Oscar is displaying the dominant to the E, which is B. What
other sense would it make?

That is indeed what he is doing, but he is confusing folks by calling
it 2. The dominant mode is the fifth mode, the minor is the second.
