Rap music really is just a modern form of the old time minstrel show
shuck and jive routine, with an electronic hambone.

What's a electronic hambone?

>From Wikipedia:
The Juba dance or hambone, originally known as Pattin' Juba (Giouba,
Haiti: Djouba), is a style of dance that involves stomping as well as
slapping and patting the arms, legs, chest, and cheeks. It is related
to Clogging and the Jig, and "pattin' Juba" would be used to keep time
for other dances during a walkaround. A Juba Dance performance could
include:

* counter-clockwise turning, often with one leg raised,
* stomping and slapping (v.s.),
* various steps such as "the Jubal Jew", "Yaller Cat", "Pigeon
Wing" and "Blow That Candle Out".

The dance traditionally ends with a step called "the Long Dog
Scratch". Modern variations on the dance include Bo Diddley's "Bo
Diddley Beat" and the step-shows of African-American and Latino Greek
organizations.

But I believe clogging and the jig developed in the british isles as a
pre-christian way of defeating or driving off evil spirits. When it
gets dark I myself go outside and stomp around to clear the grounds of
intruders.

We could use yer services around here at night. Chase off the night
demons and the lurkers and yellers. Bring yer banjo. I'll supply the
coffee.

I believe, JMHO, that if a banjo is employed, the stomping, clogging,
jigging, rapping, shuck and jive and hambone aren't needed. I myself
would not employ a banjo on my propitty as I wouldn't want the pigs
here.

What about this?

Patty cake, a-patty cake, a baker's man,
Bake me a cake as fast as you can.
You pat it, and you - it
and you mark it with a "B",
and you put it in the oven for Baby and me.

Can anyone supply the missing word in line 3, it's slipped out of
what's left of my mind..
