Virtual Volunteering

I read about something this morning I’d never heard of before … virtual volunteering. Thanks to the increased availability of communication technologies, opportunities to volunteer without even leaving home are now blossoming as profusely as my neighbor’s winter jasmine.

Virtual volunteering offers ways to contribute meaningfully to the lives of others, despite mobility limitations and without relying on transportation.  Mentoring, fundraising, researching, writing all can be done remotely to support an increasing array of worthy causes.

To learn more about these opportunities visit www.volunteermatch.org and inquire about remote volunteering or read “How to Make a World of Difference -- Without Leaving Home” at www.aarpmagazine.org/lifestyle/virtual_volunteering.html.

Please forward this to anyone who might be interested in volunteering in this unique way.

(And, wouldn’t it be cool to start “Virtual Volunteering” programs within Senior Centers and Assisted Living Communities?)

Wishing you a wonderful week.  Happy Valentines Day!
