While I was recovering from surgery two years ago, my husband (who served as caregiver for the recovering me, our kids, the house, the pets … you get the picture) came home from running an errand and told me he’d bumped into a friend of ours. “Yeah,” he said, “And she actually asked ME how I was doing!”
Caregivers are often so focused on caring for those who need them that they (and we) can lose sight of their health and well-being. The American Medical Association offers a Caregiver Self-Assessment Questionnaire to help caregivers determine their current level of stress and decide what steps to take.
You can download a free copy of this assessment at
http://www.ama-assn.org/ama/upload/mm/36/caregivertooleng.pdf.
If you are caring for someone right now, visit this link and complete the questionnaire. If you know of others who are caregivers right now, feel free to forward this to them.
Linking you with helpful caregiving resources
and wishing you a wonderful week.
