Many of us will be visiting with extended family over the next two weeks. We also may visit friends and neighbors in nursing homes. While these visits are valuable gifts, sometimes they feel awkward because we don’t know what to say or do. In time for the holidays, Edna Ballard, of the Duke Family Support Program, has published a series of holiday tips for friends, family and members of faith communities. While originally focused on visiting people with Alzheimer’s and other memory loss, the tips actually have a broad appeal. View the free, easy-to-read tip sheets at www.geri.duke.edu/service/dfsp/Holiday_Tips.pdf and print them out for your faith community.
Wishing
you and your family a joyful holiday, and wishing all of us a peaceful new
year,
