A Companion, A Conundrum and A Pumpkin

Greetings to one and all:
It is getting really chilly up here in Maine! There have been a few spots that have already seen a few snow flakes. Hopefully, the big stuff will hold off so we can enjoy the beautiful fall colors. Everyplace you look is a scene just screaming to be painted.
Well, I have decided to do a companion piece to a landscape that I posted earlier. This one is the same dimensions as the first, so they would look well hanging side by side. I am only about half way done as you can see - I have most of my dark transparents on as my shadows and now must start applying the opaque lights. Perhaps one of my posts should be a good discussion about the use of transparents vs opaques. There is just so much to learn about painting landscapes!! One painting that had me stuck (I hated it but could not determine why - hence my conundrum) so I emailed a jpg of it over to a good landscape artist and asked him to critique it. Boy did he ever critique it! He is blunt but he is right - now at least I know what has to be done (I'm sure he was thinking a good bonfire would be in order).

NEW CLASS STARTED - I have started teaching an art class to homeschooled teenagers so they can qualify for graduation credits. We meet in a really old building out in the boonies that used to be a store - really cool (I mean that both figuratively and literally). Anyway, below is a photo of the group - nice kids and I'm having a blast.
LIVE MODEL SKETCH GROUP - Also I am throwing in a photo of the live model sketch group that I host on the third Thursday of each month. This coupled with painting with the Lovely Ladies Of Lyman - is keeping me very busy.
And finally I am including a photo of two pumpkins for the harvest season.
