 Greetings everyone!
The weather has taken a nose dive up here, temperature-wise anyway.  Although we still have no snow yet, but  I am keeping my fingers crossed for a white Thanksgiving.
I am painting furiously to get ready for a major show next month - the Maine Women in the Arts "Prelude" holiday show - it draws lots of Christmas shoppers who spend lots of Christmas money!   Lately I have been debating whether or not to keep my membership in the Maine Women in the Arts - they do about 4 shows a year and I have not sold one thing for the past 3 shows.  But after thinking it through, I think it finally dawned on me (I'm a slow learner) that perhaps I was not really catering to the kind of people who buy at these shows.  While my paintings languished on the table, the lady next to me was selling hers like hotcakes.  The difference?  Mine were figurative, hers were all of boats.  Did I mention that the shows take place in Kennebunkport - a real boat or should I say yacht kind of place.  So I put my thinking cap on and decided to do a lot of Christmas themed paintings for this upcoming show.  Hopefully my shift in direction will pay off.  I'll let you know.
Below are a few of the new paintings that have been completed so far - they are all very small so they will be priced accordingly.  I will also include some winter landscapes and a few depicting Christmas nostalgia that have yet to be painted.

Oh!  A big "Thank You and Welcome" to Joey Higgins from Iowa who purchased two paintings last week and became a new collector.

Please check out the latest question on my blog http://mainelymary.blogspot.com "How could the Spartans be defeated by a bunch of cross dressing women?"  and my blog http://thehavenofrest.blogspot.com that tells how an agnostic inspired one of the most popular Biblical novels of all time.

May you all have a blessed Thanksgiving holiday!

Mary
