June Flowers and Exciting News!

Greetings one and all!
Is it hot where you are? The temperature is certainly warming up here in Maine - of course, I realize that we are pretty far north and those of you in the south are having much warmer weather.
Because it is June and the flowers are blooming everywhere (I love flowers) - I have just completed a floral painting, something I do very seldom. The roses are from my Mother's day bouquet and the lilacs are from my neighbor's yard (Shhhhhhhhh). Just kidding, he said I could take some. Anyway, I just do not paint florals very often, although I love floral paintings and have great admiration for those artists that can do them well. Florals need to be done in an impressionistic style to have the greatest appeal - very loose brushstrokes not photorealism. I wanted to do it in the style of the old "yard long" prints - those of you that are familiar with antiques know what that is.
Now my exciting news!! In September I will be holding a day long seminar on "Internet Marketing for the Artist" and one of the topics that will be covered is "thinking outside the box". There are several artists that are doing this with great success and I have been seeking their permission to talk about them during this seminar. I just received word from one of them, that not only will he give me permission but he will be glad to conduct a video conference call to answer questions!! How generous is that?! Just wonderful news for all attending. For those of you interested, the seminar will be on Saturday, September 18 from 9a.m.-3p.m. and will be held in Springvale, Maine.
