Recap of Toastmasters Meeting on 1/5/2012

Fellow Thanksgiving Point Toastmasters,

We had a great start to the New Year, with 8 people attending the meeting yesterday.  We had 3 guests show up, Nico Pesa, Becky Bowman and Riley Bowman (Becky's son).  Nico has a friend who is a member of Toastmasters at another club.  The rest of us included Corrine, Steve, Tom, Arun and myself.

 

I quickly introduced Steve who then explained to the guests the Toastmaster Club and what happens during the meeting.  Steve lead the group in the Pledge of Allegence.  He then gave his speech on, "The Christmas Carol."  I gave him high marks during my evaluation of his speech.  Corrine timed it at 15 minutes, which was on time.

 

We then participated in Table Topics (my favorite part of the meeting).  Steve explained to the guests what Table Topics is and Nico, Becky, Corrine, Steve, Arun and myself participated.  We had a great time.

 

Steve gave an evaluation of the meeting which even though we were small in numbers we managed to have a successful meeting with good participation from the guests and members.  We have a small club and it needs to grow.  We can do that. 

 

The meeting was concluded early and we discussed club membership with Nico, Becky and Riley.

 

Corrine joined a few weeks ago and she is anticipating receiving her manuals shortly.

 

Steve gave me forms for which he is applying for his Advanced Communicator Award Application.  I will get those into Toastmasters International.  Congratulations Steve.  

 

There is officer training tomorrow at the University of Utah.  Steve will attend.  I will attend the next officer training on January 21 at the Sandy Library.

I plan to have a speech ready for next week.  The speech and role matrix will need to be revised going forward.
