Dear Tennessee Fire Departments,
This is an important reminder regarding the submission of your 2025 NFIRS data and upcoming reporting changes.
The U.S. Fire Administration has changed the annual deadline. All 2025 NFIRS data must be submitted and released in eNFIRS by
January 31, 2026. This includes
• All incident reports entered into eNFIRS.
• All valid and “no activity” reports released, including those from inactive departments.
• Resolution of any data quality issues, including validity concerns and incident accuracy.
There will be no exceptions to this deadline as the data is needed for the timely publication of the 2025 Public Data Release (PDR).
Important Transition Notice:
• All NFIRS reporting ends on December 31, 2025.
• Beginning January 1, 2026, all departments must report incidents using NERIS.
NFIRS will remain operational through January 2026 only for departments to finish entering 2025 reports and make final corrections.
We understand that 2025 has been a hybrid reporting year with departments transitioning from NFIRS to NERIS. As a result, incident totals may be lower than in previous years. Nonetheless, it is
critical that all NFIRS data for 2025 is complete by the January 31 deadline.
This will be the final reminder regarding 2025 NFIRS data submission and the transition to NERIS.
