Hello Cyclists,
Thanks for the great turnout on Saturday's ride out of beautiful downtown Andice. Here's what's up for next Saturday, and a look a some upcoming t-shirt rides.
Saturday, March 1, 2014: Wheels will roll at 9 a.m. from the back parking lot of the Kempner Brick Oven in Kempner. We'll head out for the River Road routes that offer distances from 23 to 36 miles, and even a couple of decent climbs. Coffee and carbs at 8 a.m. at the Brick. The Brick Oven is about 8 miles southwest of Copperas Cove on U.S. 190.
And you might want to mark your calendars for these upcoming events.
April 5, 2014 -- The Aware Bike Tour, 8 a.m. Hewitt park. According to organizers, this is a free event. They are, however, asking for riders to e-mail RSVPs to
tere...@aol.com. This event offers distances of 3, 15, 20, 36, 44, and 62 miles. More info is available online at
www.passtimes.org. Click on "projects".
April 12, 2014 -- This is the debut of the Lampasas Hillaceous Bike Tour. This ride starts in downtown Lampasas, and offers distances of 9, 24, 37, 49, and 69 miles over mostly rural, somewhat hilly terrain. Organizers have already lined up a bunch of sponsors, and are enthusiastically touting this event on the ride Web site at
http://www.lampasashillaciousbiketour.com. Visit the site for more info or to sign up to volunteer to help on ride day. My opinion: We really need to support this one.
May 31, 2014 -- TRK has been invited to participate in the Texas 4000 Atlas Ride. The ride starts in Cedar Park and ends at the Pillar Bluff Vineyard in Lampasas. The Atlas Ride is actually the first day of the Team Texas 4000 ride that goes from Texas to Alaska to raise awareness (and funds) in the fight against cancer. More information is available by visiting
www.texas4000.org. The $50 registration fee covers the fully-supported ride plus barbecue lunch at the vineyard.
Let me know if you hear or any more t-shirt rides coming up in the next couple of months.
See you on the road,
David
