Cyclists,
thought you might like to know that the construction on Farm Road 580
has been completed. From just west of Topsey to the intersection with
FR 2313 the pavement is smooth as glass. It is now one of the best
cycling roads in the four county area. I don't know what inspired them
(TXDOT) to actually put down asphalt concrete, like they used to do for
all roads, but it sure is nice. Enjoy it while you can because I am sure
that in a couple of years they will "maintain it" by seal coating it and
covering it with a layer of gravel the size of quarters. Like they did
to 2313 from 580 into Kempner. That used to be smooth as glass also
until a couple years ago.
