Hello Cyclists --
I hope at least some of you got out last Saturday (Oct. 18) to enjoy the incredibly beautiful fall weather and the sights along the River Road. Here's what's up for this week:
Saturday, Oct. 25 -- BURGERS! Yup, that's the capper and maybe the high point of the Andice Loop. Wheels will roll from the parking lot of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in beautiful downtown Andice at 9 a.m. -- that's 9 a.m. This ride can be as long as about 42 miles, or as short as 22 miles, and it ends with the great burgers served at the Andice General Store. To get there from the Copperas Cove area, take FM2657 to Highway 183 in Briggs. Turn left onto 183 and follow that to FM 970. Turn left and go about 2 miles to the church parking lot. To get there from the Killeen-Fort Hood-Harker Heights area, take Texas 195 south to Florence. Turn right onto FM970 (the last light in town) and follow that about 7 miles to Andice. Coffee and carbs at Lil Tex on Main Street in Copperas Cove about 7:30. Join me and we can caravan down to Andice. This ride, by the way, was requested by Nabuko Fogerty and Jolitha Dominguez of WOW. Y'all come.
A note or two: Sadly, this might be my last ride with Team Roadkill and it means that I, the last active member of the original Team Roadkill will be moving on. We have sold our home and will soon be moving about two hours north to Waxahachie. I have truly enjoyed my association with not only the folks who show up for the Saturday ride, but with the members of WOW and Team Army. I will be close enough to get up early, though, and get back here for some of the Saturday rides. I really need one of you to step forward and take on the task of planning and posting the Saturday rides. It's not a tough job, but an important one if Team Roadkill is to continue. I love each and every one of you, and your friendship and participation have meant more to me than I can express.
See you Saturday, and keep the rubber side down,
David
