I've been trying to get this to work off and on with multiple devices since android 2.3.  It has never once worked.  Not any color or for any context.

Is this a lost cause?  Is this possible?  I'm tired of unnecessary apps cluttering up my phone.

I'm currently using an xperia xz1 compact running android 8.0.0... is there some sort of plugin to make this functional?

Thanks in advance.

If you're not rooted, controlling the LED can only be done through notifications. Are you aware of that?

But I am rooted.  And I've rooted every one of my devices.  What am I doing wrong?

How exactly are you trying to do it?

I use the notify led action, but it does nothing.  Flashes a notification but light doesn't come on.

Put in a wait and have your screen off.

Yes, the screen needs to be off for Notify LED to work.

Be happy to try that but that really shouldn't matter considering the context to activate it is an sms received and i have the screen off when I receive it.  No point in trying to test the led if the screen is on.

Nope.  No light.

Do I need to revoke all other permissions to control the LED or allow Tasker to do so or something like that?

Remove the screen off part and try it again.

Make a new test task that is just Wait 5 seconds, then flash led. Run that and manually turn off the screen.

That's exactly what I tried after your first message.  Manually ran a test task wherein waits five seconds and then notify led.  I hit play and manually turn off screen.

No LED.  There's a tasker notification when I turn it on... but no LED.

I've never been able to get this to work with any device.  I can only assume I'm doing something wrong since it hasn't been removed from Tasker.  I've had to rely on LightFlow which is completely unreliable and also can't manage to overrule the stock led settings.

Are you picking a colour for the led flash? I had a task with LED working on my Nexus 5. But new phone doesn't have one.

Yes and I've tried multiple colors.  I can verify that all the colors work with  Light Flow.  I use the led for all sorts of notifications, I won't buy a device if it doesn't have an rgb led.  It's one of Android's best features in my opinion.

Let's get high tonight?  Hahaha.

There's got to be something I can do to enable this. It's driving me insane.

Doesn't appear to work on my Note 9 either. Android 8.1

Is there some sort of permission I need to allow?  Do I need to revoke lightflow permissions even though I have disabled the app?

Also, this is unrelated but... this is my first time rooting with magisk... there aren't any known issues vs traditional supersu?

Ok, seems to not be working for me either. Maybe because Tasker is not targeting Android 8 yet...

But I tried AutoNotification (which does target Android 8) and it works! On my Galaxy S9 it didn't respect the pattern, but it respected the color. Can you try that?

As in your app AutoNotification?  I'll give it a try.  Thanks so much.

I'm using a G. Pixel with Android Pie, maybe in a coming tasker update leds will work again out the box? I just want to switch on led when charging without using light flow app.
