The Notification Event in tasker doesn't seem to catch rich notifications, only text notifications. Is that the expected behavior? If so, are there any plans for future releases to try to somehow record those as well?

Get the "Autonotification" Tasker plug in, created by the same Tasker developer.

I get notified for both RCS and SMS/MMS texts by specifying

  Received Text, Type Any

as the only test in my profile.

Thank you, Autonotification worked! One question, The regular Notification Event had the New Only boolean field, but I don't see a field by that name in AutoNotification, what is the equivalent one there?

Look for "action type" in the autonotification intercept profile event. "Created" would be the same as Tasker's "New".

I see "Created or Updated" as an option, they don't show up as 2 different options, do you have a separation option for just Created? But that actually wouldn't solve the problem either, because I need to capture both and then evaluate later in the task if it's Created or Updated and take appropriate action per app basis.

That option is a "Filter", which means if you omit specifying it, both values are allowed.

My apologies, I should have looked again at the Intercept configuration screen. Forgot that the "create or update" is one option.

Take a look at the responses on the similar Reddit thread that someone named "coma4" created (Was that you?)

(Cross posting is a good way to get conflicting answers and confuse everyone.)

Forgive me, but I'm wondering why the seeming insistence on use of the autonotification plugin when tasker is able to do this natively. Believe me, I have nothing against plugins. I use them extensively, especially those written by Joao. But i believe in simplicity, if possible. Here's my profile

Profile: Text/RCS
Event: Received Text [ Type:Any Sender:C:ANY Content:* SIM Card:* MMS Body:* ]

Am I missing something? Can someone give me a reason to switch to autonotification?

@aa6vh yep that was also me, sorry for crossposting, but any answer that works would be much appreciated, conflicting or not :) So far it seems that it might not be currently possible to evaluate in a task if a notification is New Only or not (Created vs Updated), so maybe this is a feature request to include this variable in the profile output for the Autonitification plugin, the same way it's already included in the regular Notification Event.

@plu for capturing text messages I use the method as you, but this question is for capturing all notifications, not just messages, and specifically the Autonotification plugin has to be used to capture rich notifications, the regular Event Notification only captures text notifications.

Thanks. I assumed you were referring to RCS message notification. I hadn't heard of rich notifications. But after a little research based on your last post, I can understand where autnotification would be necessary. Sorry for muddying the waters. Mea culpa.
