I attempted to build a task with the AutoNotification Cancel action.  Saw the warnings about it maybe canceling persistent notifications and rebooting to get them back, and then using the AutoNotification Snooze action to uncancel if rebooting didn't work.  Well, I tried it anyway and I lost the persistent notification for Tasker (and probably everything else 🥺), rebooting didn't work, so I tried the Snooze which only brings back the status bar notification until you clear notifications (not persistent.) I would really like to have the persistent notifications back in the status bar, anyway to do this without resetting my phone?
Galaxy S25+, One UI version 7.0, Android version 15.

When I want to dismiss a persistent notification, I "snooze" it instead using a long duration. When I want that notification to re-appear, I simply "snooze" to 0, which makes it re-appear. Do not "cancel" it.

Thanks, but it has already been canceled with the cancel function and I'm looking to get it back.  To clarify, I am talking about the icons on the left of the statues bar that indicate services that are running like Tasker, Notification Listener, etc.

Oh, you are talking about two separate issues. A simple reboot will clear out "cancelled" notifications, and you can recreate them again.

Your notification icon issue can be fixed by going into the system settings, Notifications, Advanced Settings, and disabling "Show App icon in notifications".

Thanks, but nope.  Like my original post said, a reboot didn't work and you still seem to be talking about something entirely different than I described.

Under the hood, cancelling a persistent notification is just snoozing it for a very long time. You can unsnooze it by setting the snooze to 0 on those cancelled notifications. Hope this helps!

Yes, I did that as suggested in the pop up. It comes back, but it is no longer persistent -- it will clear (not using Tasker) if you use the clear button, just like the non persistent notifications.

Hhmm, that seems like an Android bug to me 😅 It should come back normally. Does it go back to normal if you reboot after doing that?

No.  My original post was quite explicit.  I follow what the two pop up screens say. I reboot, and that does nothing, so I set the snooze to 0 and run that and it brings it back, but it isn't persistent as it can now be dismissed just by hitting clear.  Since I originally posted, I also found the Android 14+ Persistent Notification option, and that works fine if you swipe away the notification, but still allows it to be cleared if the clear button is used.  This isn't a great option because it means that is I have many notifications and don't wish the so called persistent ones to be cleared, I have to swipe them one by one.

Unless I'm missing something, in your original post you didn't mention that you rebooted after unsnoozing the notifications, did you?

I did do that later, and I'll try it again in a bit.

I apologize, I didn't quite understand what you meant. However, I did try that also and it wasn't working.  But now I see that although the clear button will clear persistent notifications, if you turn the screen off, they reappear when the screen is turned back on.  Whether this is an Android bug, or a bug in my understanding of the way things should work, it is good enough for me.

Sorry if I wasted your time, but thank you for trying to help.

No problem. It does seem like an Android bug to me :)

None of my AutoNotification persistent notifications stay persistent anymore. If I accidentally clear one, it stays gone until the next time it's posted. It doesn't come back if I turn the screen off/on. Same for Tasker (Alert Notify) notifications set as persistent. Tasker's monitor notification can also be cleared now, but it does come back if I turn the screen off/on. I have a Galaxy S24+ which also has OneUI 7 and Android 15.

Persistent notifications are hard to understand when this thread is so confusing. But it does appear that Google (or Samsung) changed the way persistent notifications work, allowing the user to "snooze" persistent notifications.

I modified my AutoNotification persistent notifications to have an "action on dismiss" that immediately then unsnoozes that notification. Of course if you do that, you will need a separate way to "cancel" that notification.

which makes them not persistent consequently 😏

BTW , you may find useful to know that there is a way to restore previous behavior, on a per-app basis, as explained here: https://www.reddit.com/r/tasker/comments/1fv9ez4/how_to_enable_nondismis.sible_persistent/

I can confirm that it works on my phone (Samsung S23)
