There is a growing global acknowledgment that what the Tamils in Sri Lanka suffered in the final stages of the civil war was genocide at the hands of the Sri Lankan state. Canada is one example that declared the week preceding May 18 as genocide week and focused it on education-related matters. In Britain, Rt Hon Sir Keir Starmer, the opposition leader, mentioned Mullivaikkal genocide remembrance in his Mullivaikkal message to the BTF. https://www.facebook.com/100064789236766/posts/871004598402507/?mibextid=WC7FNe&rdid=fnH2koZkm5Gjg3CE

Janet Daby, the member of parliament for Lewisham East and shadow minister for youth justice, a strong advocate for justice and the legitimate aspirations of Tamils also acknowledged in many occasions what happened to Tamils in the civil war in Sri Lanka was genocide.

BTF looks forward to campaigning for the likes of Janet Daby, seeking to establish justice for the Tamil victim population in Sri Lanka, whose existence there is threatened with genocide.
