I am sure that all of us homeowners, including those that have been on the TMA Board or work for TMA, want the same thing:
· An operating Tamarack Resort with the amenities we were expecting to have, including:
o Recreational activities such as skiing, golf, etc.
o Tamarack Municipal Association provided services such as security, street maintenance, lighting, maintenance of public areas, management of Benefited Unit Assessments, etc.
o TVT options for television, telephone and internet
o Eventually shops and restaurants
o Options for putting properties in a rental pool & having those properties managed
· A retention of or increase in property values
· Having TMA dues and fees at a level that makes our properties affordable
Homeowners have been expressing the feeling that they are not being kept informed and that they may not have a say in the decisions made by the TMA.
Should I be elected as the TMA Board representative for Class A Cabin homeowners (owners of Cottages, Townhomes and Chalets), I will do the following for the homeowners I represent:
· Ask Cabin class homeowners to provide me with their email addresses so I can keep them informed
· Proactively notify the homeowners of upcoming Town Hall meetings. I know that many of you are busy and don’t have the time to continually check the TMA website for those announcements
· Send out recaps of Town Hall meetings to all on the email distribution list
· Send out published documents and Board meeting minutes, again so you don’t have to remember to check the website
· Provide Benefited Unit Assessment information – where has the money been spent, what is planned for spending, what is the status of the reserves
· Request input from Cabin class homeowners so I can properly represent you
As you may know, the TMA Board is made up of 11 members. Two positions (Club and Golf Course) are not currently filled, and I am not sure when or if they will be filled. So there are currently 9 participating Board Members, 3 of which are representatives elected by the homeowners (Class A Cabin, Class A Estate and Class B Village which are Lodge owners). The remaining 6 Board members represent:
· Owner of the Mountain Facilities
· Declarant (2 positions) who is New Trac (Credit Suisse and the other creditors)
· Declarant’s Assignees (2 positions) who are homeowners or lessees of Tamarack Resort properties, appointed by the Declarant (New Trac)
With only 3 of 9 Board Members elected by homeowners, you can see that it is important that the elected Board Members be able to work well with the other Board Members. The elected members need to be able to logically discuss issues and clearly present homeowners’ interests and concerns. They need to understand how business decisions are made so when it is necessary, they can convince the other Board Members to vote in ways that support the homeowners’ interest or negotiate proper decisions. My business experience will allow me to represent the Class A Cabin homeowners in this manner. So I ask for your vote.
Whether you vote for me or not, it is important that, as homeowners, you either attend the meeting or provide your proxy to someone that you trust to vote on your behalf. You can even let your proxy know who you want them to vote for.
We need at least 20% of the homeowners in each category to vote, in person or via proxy. This is your opportunity to have a voice and to make Tamarack the resort and home that you desire.
