LSR,
Join Dana and me for a special 4th of July ride starting from our house. We will roll a little after 7am when everyone is ready.
We will ride a new version of the Lake Weatherford Tin Top Century 150K. This is a good ride to do in the heat since the stops are all around 20 miles apart.
This is a longer version of the 120K Dart Pop route, but starts and finishes at our house. We ride completely around Lake Weatherford stopping at the floating bridge for a bathroom break, ride past two golf courses, go through downtown Aledo stoping at the Shell station for ice, ride for miles along a wild animal ranch, stop at the place in Tin Top with good sandwiches and burgers for a quick lunch and more ice, head north to Harmony, then the Pilot truck stop in Weatherford for more ice, the head back passing Willow Park to our house. Get the idea? Bring a CamelBak.
The modified route takes a more direct route to Lake Weatherford (Squaw Creek is all torn up), adds a new loop in place of the out and back on Tin Top Road, takes a different way around Harmony, and takes a different way around Willow Park.
Just a warning: It is going to be hot and this is a very hilly course. If we take too many breaks we will miss the time cut off. So keep that in mind.
So why is this a special ride you ask? On this ride I will achieve 400,000 Kms of RUSA events. Call it an Ultra-Mondail or a Quadruple Galaxy. Not that those awards exist, just that I will be the first person to get there.
Now the details:
We live on the west side of Fort Worth but our mailing address is Aledo. Our address is 4325 Northpointe Drive, Aledo, TX 76008. See the attached PDF file for our address and where to park by our house.
The title of that route is "#02765 - THW Lake Weatherford Tin Top Century". The letters are code. T = Thompson Road, H = Harmony Bypass, and W = Willow Park Bypass. I have eight version of this route, but this one is the best.
Please let me know if I can expect you, and I will post updates to the email list.
See you out west for a really fun and challenging ride. Just remember Parker County makes you strong.
Gary
