Join us Saturday, October 4th, for the Italy South UAF (Audax) 200k Brevet.
This is an "Audax" ride where we all stick together for the duration of the ride.
We'll appoint lead and follow captains. Nobody passes the lead captain, nobody gets behind the follow captain. (This is the theory!).
We have a detailed cue sheet showing what time we'll be at every corner, every stop, and try to stick to that itinerary as close as we can.
We'll try to maintain a rolling average of 14.0 mph in order to do that.
See more about Audax rides here:
https://rusa.org/pages/audax-introNote the links to Audax Q & A and Audax Rules at the bottom of that page.
We must have at least four riders to start the event, and at least three must finish for results to count. (Unlike Darts, it is rider number, not bike number, that is pertinent.)
The special UAF cue sheet for this ride is attached. If you see any problems on it, let me know.
Start time: 7:20 AM. Sunrise is 7:23, so this will be considered a daylight start.
Finish time: Scheduled at 7:03 PM, while sunset is at 7:07. So if we stick to that schedule, it's a daylight finish as well. If we get behind that schedule, night gear will be required. It is highly recommended to bring lights and reflective gear just in case.
Start location: The Pilot/ Tiger Mart on the northwest corner of I-35E and Hwy 34 in Italy, Texas. Park out behind the Denny's.
A waiver is attached. Please print, sign, scan, and email to both me and to Dan, and bring the original to the ride start.
Lone Star Randonneurs membership is required. See the form on the LSR website. Get the form and the money into Dan prior to the ride start.
RUSA membership is required. See the RUSA website.
Note that memberships obtained late in the year are also good for the following year, confirm when signing up.
Long range forecast is low of 68, high of 91, mainly sunny, winds SSE at 5-10 mph, humidity 53%. Check forecast prior to the ride and be prepared for whatever is going to happen.
