New gravel routes

Hi LSRs,

Last year, Dan asked me to create gravel routes for the new RUSA Gravel Rouleur Award. I put together 3 new routes (100 - 199k), all of them have been approved:

- 125k: A Taste of Gravel: ridewithgps.com/routes/49222521 - route #3526
- 140k: Alvarado Gravel Ramble ridewithgps.com/routes/49804592 - route #3537 / perm route #05428
- 183k: Gotta Love Gravel: ridewithgps.com/routes/49751941 - route #3525 / perm #5419

The routes start in Alvarado (Alvarado High School), they share the first 35 miles from Alvarado to Milford (control #2) and the last 32 miles from Italy back to Alvarado. The 125k route is 20% gravel, 140k is 30% gravel and the 183k is 40% gravel. Gravel is mostly smooth, there is no dirt so these routes can be ridden even when it rains.

Looking forward to riding these soon, I'll check with Dan if he can put these on the calendar.

Hi everyone,

I rode the Gotta Love Gravel (183k) route yesterday, just after it rained all night and in the morning. The route was in good condition with gravel roads mostly dry except one wet section (@ mi 27). There was no mud on the route. The water crossing at mile 12 had no water in it and the one at mile 100.6 was low and rideable. About 8 miles from the finish, I was attacked by 2 large dogs (Grand Pyrenees) on County Rd 203 just south of FM 1807. One of them bit me in the butt but the shorts padding saved me. I plan to submit a reroute to avoid this section. This section is in all 3 routes. Except for the dog incident, the ride was a lot of fun, and I hope we can ride this soon as a group.
