Ultra Distance Awards..... round it up! Before the years over.

[Dan Driscoll]

Fellow Randos,

As we get closer to end of another awesome year of rando riding, I’d like to remind you to be cognate of your yearly kilometer count.

Over a year ago the RUSA Board approved a new set of Awards… The Ultra Distance Awards, which is very exciting for most all RUSA members that ride.

Prior to these new Awards, the only Ultra Award for Distance was the Ultra K-Hound Award, at 10,000km per year for 10 years, its out of reach for most RUSA members.

With these new Awards, it’s possible to earn an Ultra 1,000km Award, with 1,000km of Rando riding per year for 10 years (need not be consecutive). Ultra 2,000, 3,000, 4,000 and 5,000 are also available.

Don’t end the year with 999km or 1,999 or even 4,999, plan your season to end up with the highest denomination you can reach, and don’t leave a lot of cards on the table.

I do not know when the RUSA Web team will roll this Award out, but it is on the RUSA’s Board 2026 Goals to be rolled out this year.

Regardless of when it is rolled out, it will be retroactive, so that this year and all previous years will count towards your Ultra Distance Awards…. Make this year count ;=)
