Join us December 13, 2025, for the Lone Star Roundup Day 4 ride. This is a stand-alone event, a 200k RUSA brevet, which also happens to be Day 4 of the upcoming Lone Star Roundup 1200k. This is a RUSA brevet, not an ACP brevet, as the original calendar had a different 211k route. RUSA brevets do not qualify for certain ACP awards. This is the date originally planned for the Christmas Brevet, but has been shifted to this route as a convenient time to check it out.
Start time: 7:20 AM, to be confirmed (sunrise is at 7:20).
I'm open to alternate start times, if y'all have better ideas.
Start location: The ride officially starts at the intersection of Stadium Drive and Northgate Drive in Waxahachie.
I plan to park in the Walmart parking lot (Walmart Supercenter, 1200 n. Hwy 77, Waxahachie, TX).
Some may be parking at the La Quinta. Both are just a half-block from the ride start.
The current route is here:
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/53063691I will create an updated copy and post that later, so check back for any changes.
A waiver is attached. Complete, print, sign, scan, and email to both Dan and myself. If you've already submitted one waiver, you don't need to submit a new one.
Lone Star Randonneurs membership is required. See the form on the LSR website for details. Get the form and payment into Dan prior to the ride, not at the ride start.
RUSA membership is required. See the RUSA website for details.
I think on either membership, signing up now will also include 2026.
Lights and reflective gear meeting RUSA requirements are required. We may or may not finish before dark.
Route notes: This is a new route. I have ridden parts of it, and prior to Saturday, we should have reports from two or more other riders that have ridden the whole thing.
If you google the Bristol General Store, you'll find articles about them serving sushi, etc. I've been there a couple of times, and didn't look for sushi, but they did have home-made baked goods, people were friendly, etc. I seem to remember being there ages ago when the former owners weren't very bike friendly, but seems to be all good now.
Mile 37.3 to 46.7 are on Malloy Bridge Road. This had some traffic when I rode it on a Sunday afternoon. It will help if we keep single-file in there to get people to move on around us.
Ages ago, I was in the Country Corner in Combine, and it was pretty smoky, not sure what it's like now.
Current forecast:
Low of 36 on Friday night, high of 55, winds from NNE at 8 mph, partly cloudy, chance of rain 11%. Check the forecast right before the ride, and be prepared for what comes, including a nippy morning and possible precipitation.
This route generally goes east then back west, which means you ride into the sunrise, then into the sunset. Consider a visor and a daytime blankie light for extra visibility.
Check back for updates.
