to Lone * Star * Randonneurs
Join us January 31, 2026, for 200k, 300k, and 400k ACP Brevets from Waxahachie, Texas.
These routes will be part of the upcoming 1200k.  Some of these roads are new to us, some are old familiar roads.  We originally had the Italy routes on this date, and have revised it to use these newer routes.

If you are interested (or might be) in the 300k or 400k, please contact Dan NOW so y'all can coordinate ride times, etc.

Start time is 7:20 AM for the 200k.  This is a daylight start.  Start time for the 300k and 400k routes are pending, and may be adjusted to optimize daylight or open store hours.
Start location:  The route maps start at the intersection of Stadium Drive and Northgate Drive in Waxahachie.  Assume for now to meet up at the Walmart Supercenter, 1200 N. Hwy 77, Waxahachie, Texas.  Park down on the south side of the parking lot.  The ride start location is right near the LaQuinta Inn as well.

Lone Star Randonneurs membership is required.  See the LSR webpage for details.  Get the check and the form in to Dan prior to the ride.
RUSA membership is required.  See the RUSA website for details.

Lights and reflective gear per RUSA requirements are required for the 300k and 400k, and are highly recommended for the 200k due to short days.  Sunset is shown as 6:00 PM, and if cloudy, it'll be dark in a hurry.

Waivers are attached.  Please complete, print, sign, scan, and email the waiver to both me and to Dan, and bring the original to the ride start.  If you don't know which distance, you can submit both and decide at the ride start.  If you've already submitted a waiver, you don't need to resubmit a another one.

These routes are ACP routes.  That means they qualify for certain awards and medals.  However, times and mileage credit are based on 200, 300, or 400k, rather than actual distance.

Current RideWithGPS files are below.  These may be updated prior to the ride, so be sure and confirm you have the latest and greatest prior to setting off.  The updated files may be the same files with updates, or may be new files.  These may differ from the routes listed on the LSR calendar:
200k:  https://ridewithgps.com/routes/53663869
300k:  https://ridewithgps.com/routes/53597430
400k:  https://ridewithgps.com/routes/53532456

Some specific ride notes:
-The 200k includes a segment on a bike trail.  If riding a tandem or recumbent, there may be one or two corners that require extra care or dismounting.
- There have been some wooden bridges down there, and some of them had grating on them.  In some cases, that grating has been removed, and we're back to the lengthwise-plank construction, which means there are big gaps that a bike tire can fit in.  So approach those with much caution, especially in the dark and/or if you're tired.  If necessary, dismount and walk across.
-There is road construction on FM 667 south of Italy, on the 400k, currently from about mile 25 to 26.  This includes gravel surface, and 1-way road with traffic lights during the week (as of a few days ago).  North of there, there are some major cracks and ledges in the road, more so going northbound, but be aware of those issues, especially with a very early start..

The current long-range forecast shows rain/freezing rain with a low of 30 on Friday 30th, then on Saturday the 31st, a low of 31, a high of 50, "Foggy", winds from NNW at 5-10 mph.  A forecast that far off is highly suspect, and hopefully will improve.  But be sure and check the forecast just prior to the ride, both for the ride itself, and for getting to Waxahachie, and be prepared for whatever is out there.

Please check back for updates.
