Join us in Italy, Texas, on May 10, 2025, for 200k, 300k, 400k, 600k, 1000k, and 358k brevets.

The routes are:
200k La Bella Cindita Duecento  RUSA brevet
300k La Bella Cindita Trecento  ACP brevet
400k La Bella Cindita Quattrocento  ACP brevet
600k Mexia Breveta 600Ka ACP brevet
1000k La Bella Vickie Mille ACP brevet
358k Mexia Breveta 358Ka RUSA brevet
The ACP brevets qualify for certain awards and medals.  The RUSA brevets do not qualify for these award or medals but do give you extra time and mileage credit for any odd distance.
The 200k, 300k, and 400k are Joe's newly re-worked routes.  The 200k specifically eliminates some traffic, some rough roads, and the bonus 11k that the old route had.  The 400k is set up to allow riding with the 600k/1000k Day 1 riders.
The 358k is just Day 1 of the 1,000k/ 600k as a stand-alone brevet.

Start location:  Exxon Tiger Mart/ Pilot, on the southwest corner of I-35E and Hwy 34, Italy, Texas.

Start time:  Tentative start time:  200k at 8:00 AM, other routes to be determined.

RUSA membership is required.  See the RUSA website for details.
LSR membership is required.  See the LSR website.  Get the form and the payment into Dan some time prior to the day of the ride.
Lights and reflective gear are required for the 300k and longer routes, and highly recommended for the 200k route, just in case.

Waivers are attached for each ride.  Complete, print, sign, scan, and email to both me and to Dan.  If you're interested in more than one route, send waivers for both.  If you've already sent a waiver to Dan, you don't need to duplicate it.

I anticipate limited turnout, especially on the longer routes.  I plan to ride the 200k.  If you are interested in the longer routes, let me know, and I can keep you posted on who else is riding what.

If you are riding the 600k or the 1000k, you will need a motel room at the Italy Inn.  We have used the Italy Inn a lot through the years and the key is simply low expectations.  It is on the second floor of the store.  There is an elevator in the back of the store, as well as stairs outside.  Last I checked, some rooms had microwaves and fridges, some didn't, so inquire if you need those.  Google shows their phone number as (972) 483-7507.  If you have trouble getting through, try the store number at (972) 483-7600.  The motel desk is there next to the cash registers in the store.  The motel is full on occasion, so make reservations sooner rather than later.

Ride With GPS files are below.  Note that these routes, as well as the RWGPS files, are different from what is shown on the LSR calendar, use the ones below.  Joe, Dan, Pam, if y'all can confirm these are the latest and greatest, that would be helpful- I see various copies of some of them, and not sure if they are different.
One change that is not noted on these, is that the store at Owensville (turn-around on Day 1) is now closed.  There is a store about 12 miles prior, though.

Check the weather forecasts.  Italy is not too hilly, but tends to be windy.

Hi everyone,

I created a new route for the Day 1 of 600k / 1000k based on Joe's new 400k route: Day One - Mexia Breveta 1000Ka / 600k (new route) · Ride with GPS

The route is 220 miles / 354 km, only 2 km shorter than the old route. I am planning to submit this ASAP to get it approved before May 9th. Based on our pre-ride last Saturday, the route bypasses the road construction section near Thornton with 4 miles of gravel, instead it returns back to Groesbeck on TX-14 and then to Prairie Hill on FM 1245 where it rejoins the 300k/400k route. The route also bypasses Waxahachie, it returns back to Italy from Maypearl. I removed 5 controls (Mart, 2 photo controls, Maypearl and Waxahachie) and added 3 new ones (#6 - Groesbeck, #8 - Itasca and #9 - Grandview).

Let me know what you think

Thanks,

Peter

One thing that comes to mind is to check the stores that are late in the ride and see how late they're open.
I've ridden the original Mexia Breveta 400ka, but haven't ridden the updates or longer versions to compare.

Update:
My original post referenced the La Bella Vickie 1000k.  This should have been Mexia Breveta 1000ka, the newer route.

I have updated Day 1 on the 600k and 1000k routes due to a store closing and some rough roads.
I have updated Day 2 and Day 3 of the 1000k to more recent files that Pam had done, which they used last time they rode this.
So new/improved files:
Day 1 600k:  https://ridewithgps.com/routes/50622119
Day 2 600k:  https://ridewithgps.com/routes/44555361

Day 1 1000k:  https://ridewithgps.com/routes/50622119
Day 2 1000k:  https://ridewithgps.com/routes/37679347
Day 3 1000k:  https://ridewithgps.com/routes/37679349

Please disregard previously posted routes, and those on the Calendar Page.
Note that changing Day 1 means the 358k no longer follows Day 1, but should be no problem for now.

An updated waiver is attached for the 1000k.  See attached.

Riders, last I heard:
200k:
Rob
Stephen
Greg Gross

600k:
Peter

1000k
Chris

Forecast:
Temperature 55-82 degrees all weekend, partly cloudy Saturday, sunny Sunday and Monday.  Winds from NNE Saturday, so stiff headwinds on the return.  Slightly lower winds Sunday and Monday.  5-9% chance of rain.
Check back closer to the ride.
