IMPORTANT UDATE:

Today while riding north on FM-5 Dana and I almost bought the farm.  A crazy guy driving a dump truck with his horn continuously blasting ran Dana and I off the road.  We dove for the ditch and I managed to keep the tandem upright.  Dana and I would rather deal with the construction on Bankhead Hwy than the narrow shoulder and high speed traffic of FM-5 from now on.

I have changed the RWGPS route at the same link as below to get us off of FM-5.  I also changed the title.  If you have the route pinned make sure your GPS loads the new route.  If you copied it, copy it again.

UPDATE:

Rider list so far:
Gary, Dana, Sue, Tom, Peter

INFORMATION:

On Saturday February 28th LSR has a 127Km Populaire with a start time of 8:30am from Willow Park.  This is one of the rides needed for the Rouleur award.

Please be aware of I-30 and I-20 construction.  I-30 and I-20 from I-820 to past Aledo Farmer Road has a massive construction project in progress.  Most of the entrance and exit ramps are closed.  Most of the access roads are closed.  Traffic is snaked around all of the work going on.  It is a major pain in the bottom, but when it is done the interstate will be four lanes in each direction and there will be new exit and entrance ramps.  They promise two lane access roads with get this, pedestrian and bike lanes.  All that said, please leave extra time and use some sort of crowd sourced map application like Waze, Google Maps, Tele-Nav, or Apple Maps to get you to the ride start.

The first control is the old DK but there is also a brand new Casey’s that we will use instead.  They have awesome pizza and other food, plus sparkling clean restrooms.  Then we head to Tin Top (optional) and the Pilot Truck Stop before heading back.  We have used this route for the Dart Pop in the past.

After the ride Dana and I are gong to eat an early dinner at Fuzzy’s Taco Shop right next to the ride start.  You are all welcome to join us.

Here are the normal instructions I include.

Pay attention because there are four steps to this email that require some work on your part.

Step 1: Open the attached Waiver PDF, fill it out, print it, sign it, scan or photo it, email that to Dan Driscoll dandri...@me.com and Gary Gottlieb gary.p....@me.com.  Do this no later than 7:00pm the night before the event.  Keep the signed paper copy and bring it with you to the ride start.

Step 2: Go to the below URL and load that route into your Wahoo or Garmin if you have one of those

Step 3: We are using the above RWGPS link for this pop.  If you want a paper cue sheet email me a request and I will get one to you.  Otherwise you can print one from the RWGPS link.

Step 4: Open the attached Parking Map PDF, print it, keep it with you so you know where to park.

This pop will use EPP.  Take selfies at all of the controls, or save your receipts, or keep your GPS track, or better yet do two of these or all three.  If Dan asks you for your proof of passage be prepared to email the stuff to Dan.

When you finish the ride text your elapsed time and RUSA number to Dan Driscoll..

Please email me to get on the ride list.  You must email your waiver to Dan and me before you ride.  There are no exceptions to this policy.

RUSA and LSR membership are required for this ride.

Please reply to me and Dan concerning this event off list.  I will post any additional details as updates to the original email string.

See you in Willow Park,

Gary
