I was reviewing the PBP website for important dates and wanted to pass along some suggestions as RBAs are getting ready to create their 2027 calendars.

Any ACP event on your calendar that falls after Nov.1st 2026 will count toward PBP registration, not pre-registration.

On the PBP website there is a mention of May 27th, 2027 as the date by which PBP aspirants who have *not* pre-registered for PBP could themselves register. This is contingent upon there being open slots to register. I'm not 100% certain that date isn't a typo.

Following that, is May 29th as the date by which people can convert their pre-registration into a registration if they have at least 3 qualifiers completed. May 29th, 2027 is a Saturday so events calendared for that weekend won't help anyone wishing to convert if they a) have only 2 events already completed and b) were going to use that result in order to convert, and c) expect to convert to registered status immediately. The results have to be filed by the RBA with RUSA *and* the RUSA BC needs to push those results over to the ACP website. This really isn't an issue because anyone that has pre-registered has until June 12th in order to get that 3rd result listed in order to convert from pre-registered to registered. Your riders might not think of that right away.

There are still 2 things to consider about this. One is that as an RBA you might have to field questions about when results will show on the RUSA site and when the 'pending' status will be updated to show a certificate #.  The second thing to consider is the speed at which you will file your results and how careful you'll need to be if you decide to speed up your usual turnaround time. The BC team already knows that RBAs will be looking for a much faster turnaround from May 27th through July 4th, 2027 and will be prepared to erase any backlog in results filing with the ACP. That will work best if we know that RBAs are certain there are no errors in results (missing pre-riders, incorrect RUSA #s, etc). At all other times, the BC team usuallywaits several weeks between event dates and sending the results to the ACP to allow for RBAs to ask for corrections. During this time frame next spring and summer, the BC team will expect that  filed results have already been proofread and are final.

Moving on to June 12th, 2027 and July 4th, 2027. June 12th is a saturday so events calendared for that date won't help your riders who are working on their 3rd qualifier unless they are content to let their pre-registration lapse and go into the pool of people trying to register for any of the spaces open at that point.

July 4th, 2027 is a Sunday. Any event calendared for the day before is almost certain to not be helpful. Your last event in 2027 that has a chance to help riders complete qualification will have to be completed (note that 600kmshave 40 hours to be completed after the start of course) in time to allow for riders to finish, for you to process results, for the BC team to process and file with the ACP *and* finally for the rider to actually get on the PBP reg page to complete their registration before 7pm Eastern, on July 4th, 2027.

As you plan your '2027' calendar (Nov. 1, 2026 through June, 30, 2027) please keep these dates in mind and what it might mean for you yourself and your workload, as well as volunteers downstream and of course your riders. If you are planning to run a Brevet Week or if you are planning to run repeats of already completed rides, or if you have adjacent regions with which your region coordinates calendars, plan to consider all these ramifications.

Personally, as BC, I won't be scheduling any vacation time at all near any dates so that I can be on hand and readily reached to support you.
