to Lone * Star * Randonneurs
Hey folks, We have a bunch of options next Saturday for rides out of Italy. I'll post some of this information, and let others update.
Route options: 300k ACP, La Bella Cindita Trecento 400k ACP, La Bella Cindita Quattrocento 600k ACP, La Bella Cindita Seicento 1000k ACP, La Bella Cindita Mille 201k RUSA Brevet, La Bella Cindita Duecento 358k RUSA Brevet, Mexia Breveta 358Ka (Day One 1000k)
The 201k and 358k are RUSA brevets, which gives you extra time and mileage credit for any for any extra distance, but doesn't qualify for certain ACP awards. The 300/400/600/1000 are all ACP brevets which qualify for ACP awards.
Start location: Pilot/ Tiger Mart/ Italy Inn, at the southwest corner of I-35E and Hwy 34, Italy, Texas. Park out behind the Denny's.
Start time: Pending. Note that start times may be staggered to take advantage of daylight and store hours. Note that the 200k may be a pre-dawn start to ride with longer routes, to be determined, and if so, will require lights and reflective gear also.
RideWithGPS Routes: Pending, Joe should be able to post those, as these are mainly his routes.
Waivers are attached. Fill out, print, sign, scan, and email to Dan (I don't need one myself). Then bring the original to the ride start. If you've already sent a waiver for your, you don't need to redo it. If you're pondering multiple distances, send a waiver for each and you can decide later.
Lone Star Randonneurs membership is required. See the form on the LSR website. Get that form and the payment into Dan prior to the day of the ride. RUSA membership is required. See the RUSA website for details. Note that late-year memberships usually include the following calendar year as well.
Proper lights and reflective gear meeting all RUSA rules are required for all routes over 201k, and are highly recommended for the 201k "just in case", even if we use a daylight start.
Route notes, store hours- pending.
Motel: The Italy Inn is located at the ride start. If you plan to use it, make reservations ASAP as it can and does fill up. It is low-quality, medium-price, sort of a known-evil that we're all familiar with. If you have trouble getting through on the motel phone number, use the Tiger Mart store number; it's the same people at pretty much the same place. If you are doing a ride where you'll be out much of the night, consider a room for afterwards, so you don't have to drive home all sleepy. There are motels in Hillsboro to the south or Waxahachie to the north, but none as convenient for riding as the Italy Inn.
Weather: Haven't checked yet.
Riders: I've seen some names batted around but not a final list. I'm planning on the 200k, Amy is as well, and maybe a half-dozen more on the longer routes.
Check back for updates, and contact Dan with any questions.
