LSR’s,

Some good news from the RUSA Board, in the Board minutes. The RUSA Board has approved the Ultra Distance Awards. This Award proposal was submitted by Gary Kanaby. Tibor and myself as a part of the RUSA Awards Review Committee have been working diligently to get this Award approved, for over a year.

What this means to YOU, if you have been a RUSA member for 10 years or more, or plan to be…. And ride a minimum of 1,000km per year, you will earn a RUSA Ultra Distance Award. These Awards will be the lowest common denominator, of your 10 years of riding. If you rode 9 years of 5,000km or more, and one year of 1,000km, you will be Awarded a RUSA Ultra 1,000km Award, both in your personal Trophy Case and also noted in The American Randonneur Magazine. If next year you ride 5,000km you will be upgraded to the Ultra 5,000km. There is continual motivation for this Award. It is geared to those that don’t have the time to earn a K-Hound every year, but still ride a minimum of 1,000km a year.

Immediate action on your part might include looking at your yearly results, and working on a plan AND ramping up your riding to raise your K’s for this year, to help you final standings.

Big Thanks to the RUSA Board and all of the members of the Awards Review Committee, that have worked on getting this proposal approved, it’s been a significant effort.

This Awards will be retroactive, to include all of your results from the beginning of RUSA.

The time line for the launch of the Awards is in our over worked web team, but we hope to see it rolled out soon.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask, but this is really good news….

Out of interest, (from a foreign member of RUSA), do these kilometres need to be in the US, or do international ACP kms count?

Cheers
